Authentication with AD and quick mbox question
Hi,
I'm attempting to implement Dovecot 2.1.3 built on a FreeBSD 8.2 64
bit system from ports.
I had the servicve up and running on a local vbox demo which did a
very simple Maildir format sytem which was situated in ~/Maildir.
I would now like to expand the system and tie it to a Windows domain.
What is the best way to go about doing this?
Can Dovecot be directly tied in or do I need to

Samba and private shares
I'm running samba 2.5 on a FreeBSD box using winbind to do authentication
with my PDC/BDC. I'm able to configure shares that everyone on the NT
network can access but when I configure private shares (only 1 or 2 users
have access to) the users get prompted for a username and password and are
not allowed access. What am I doing wrong? Below I have included a copy of
my smb.conf and pam.conf

Samba3 : no suitable range available for sid
I'm setting up a freebsd server which will authenticate against an
Active Directory
I mean: the server will NOT have any local users (except mandatory and
minimum
required for management and configuration) and will authenticate requests
for login and access
FOR EVERY SERVICE against an Active Directory Server
I have configured the samba service and currently I can
login to local terminal,

Virtual users - what is better Maildir or mbox?
Hi,
I'm trying to configure a server to use SAMBA and Winbind to
authenticate to Active Directory.... I managed to get this portion up
and running even the Dovecot portion.
For reference something similar to this guide:
http://www.whitneytechnologies.com/?p=119
However PAM is slightly different:
# cat /etc/pam.d/dovecot
auth sufficient pam_krb5.so no_user_check validate
account

Not sure I understand when add user script is called
I've built a domain member. It works pretty good with the exception
that I want on-the-fly home directories being built. I'm not sure this
is doable with a domain member as everything I've tried isn't even
called - as far as I can tell. Using log level 3.
If anyone can shed light on how to dynamically create home directories,
that'd be great.
anyway, here's my

Creating an IMAP repo for ~100 users need some advice
Hi,
I am currently in the process of setting up an IMAP repository for round
100 users....
Currently the user authentication method is being handled via a Windows
Domain Controller.
The host OS for Dovecot will either be FreeBSD or CentOS.
Would Dovecot be able to authenticate to either the DC directly or would
we need to go through LDAP??
Additionally what would be the best method to

fallout 2 mouse and keyboard problem
Hello to everyone!
I've got the latest (20040914) Wine. Everything works fine actually.
But I've got this weird thing with Fallout 2. It seems to work but
mouse and keyboard does not work. I tried enabling DirectX grab
on config file, but it didn't work. It grabs but still the mouse and
keyboard does not function. I tried turning on/off a few options
in the config file, try to find it

OpenPAM/SSHD privacy hole (FreeBSD 9.2+ affected)
Hello,
I found that in the new FreeBSD 9.2 (probably in 10 also) updated OpenPAM sources.
The big embarrassment was in pam_get_authtok.c. The problem is that even without a
valid SSH login it's possible to know the server's hostname.
az at az:/home/az % ssh 1.2.3.4
Password for az at real.hostname.com:

NTLM failures with an interesting twist
This is a tired old topic but I've at least got an angle on it:
Outlook Express works perfectly with IMAP / SPA for users logged into
our Windows domain; I just give the server address and username, and it
logs in without any password required; beautiful!
auth_ntlm_use_winbind = yes
auth_winbind_helper_path = /usr/bin/ntlm_auth
auth default {
mechanisms = ntlm

Outlook 2010 very slow when using IMAP - are there any tweaks?
Hi,
though this is a bit of a side question, has anybody had an issue
while running Outlook 2010 with Dovecot?
The reason why I am asking is that I have setup a Dovecot 2.1.7 server
on FreeBSD which works fantastically with Thunderbird but Outlook
seems to be twice as slow in transferring information across??
# dovecot -n
# 2.1.7: /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf

Opieaccess file, is this normal?
Hi,
I'm trying to setup one-time passwords on freebsd5.2.1
>From what I've read so far, if the user is present in opiekeys, the
opieaccess file determines if the user (coming from a specific host or
network) is allowed to use his unix password from this specific network.
As my opieaccess file is empty and the default rule (as mentionned in the
man file) is deny, I should not be

[PATCH V3 10/29] drm/nouveau: deprecate pci_get_bus_and_slot()
pci_get_bus_and_slot() is restrictive such that it assumes domain=0 as
where a PCI device is present. This restricts the device drivers to be
reused for other domain numbers.
Getting ready to remove pci_get_bus_and_slot() function in favor of
pci_get_domain_bus_and_slot().
Replace pci_get_bus_and_slot() with pci_get_domain_bus_and_slot()
and extract the domain number from
1. struct pci_dev

Need to authenticate Outlook and NTLM
More on this ...
I short-sheeted ntlm_auth to see what was being passed to it. It is getting as arg1:
--helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp
I tried running ntlm_auth at the command line as:
ntlm_auth --username=user --password=password --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp
It did nothing, just hung there. The ntlm_auth man page says:
--helper-protocol=PROTO
Operate as a stdio-based helper.

pam_radius fail open?
Okay, I guess I?ll be the first to take Colin Percival up in that the
following statement applies to me:
?If you find a security problem -- or even if you find something which
might possibly be a security problem but you're not certain if it is or
not -- then please let us know.?
I recently installed pam_radius according to the instructions located at
the following address:

ADS Authentication
I'm about ready to smash my head through a wall...I could use a few answers.
1. When using security = ads, and completing net ads join, it was my
understanding that samba authenticated username/pword against ads, and
local posix accounts were nolonger needed, is this true?
2. If yes, I have not been able to get it to work. If I have a posix
user account with the same name as one in
