doveadm commands returning 139 at director servers
Hello,
I have configured director in front of dovecot imap/pop/lmtp servers.
When I need to manipulate a user mailbox, I use doveadm commands at
director server's, with -S option. But some commands return exit code
139 when command returns more than 40 entries (I think).
For example, the command:
sudo doveadm fetch -u amateo hdr mailbox Trash HEADER Subject "nyctalus11/"

dovecot 2.1.5 performance
Hello,
I'm migrating from 1.1.16 running in 4 debian lenny servers virtualized

running in xenserver has

error: _IceTransSocketUNIXConnect: Cannot connect to non-local host [hostname]
When launching oowriter and other apps, I get this error:
_IceTransSocketUNIXConnect: Cannot connect to non-local host myh.dom.tld
The app -- oowriter or whatever I happen to be invoking-- starts okay.
But this error message tells me something's not right.
Curiously, the "hostname" command yields "myhost", but "hostname -f"

Removing partial Samba Install
Hello everyone:
Being a newbie, I'm extending myh education via trial
and error.
When I originally installed Red Hat Linux, I believe
that Samba version 2.0.3-8 was installed. In fact,
when I now query rpm for Samba, the response indicates
the above mentioned version. A while back, I
downloaded the latest version of Samba (2.2.2) and
dutifully tried to install it. I issued the commands

Stability of extraction of attachment
Hello,
We are migrating our dovecot servers from 2.1.9 to 2.1.15 (or 2.2 if
there is a stable version soon) and maildir format to mdbox.
Looking for mdbox options I have found options:
* mail_attachment_dir
* mail_attachement_min_size
* mail_attachment_fs
* mail_attachment_hash
but this options are described with the message:

dovecot and nfs readdir vs readdirplus operations
Hello,
We are having performance problems trying to migrate our pop/imap
servers to a new version. Our old servers are 4 debian lenny with 5GB of
RAM running of XenServer VMs with kernel 2.6.32-4-amd64 and dovecot
1.1.16. New servers are 4 ubuntu 12.04 with dovecot 2.1.5 running on
vmware vm with 6 cores and 16GB of RAM and kernel 3.2.0-24-generic. On
both server we are using nfs 3 with

XCP: Custom templates
Hello,
Is it possible to create a custom template for XCP? Or edit an existing
one? I know that I could create a VM and then exported as a template,
but I would prefer to create a template like "Debian Lenny 5.0" that
install debian from the network but with 64bits instead of the 32bits
used by the template.

Report to a domU a change on a disk
Hello,
I have a Xen dom0 (Debian Etch running xen 3.0.3) running different
domUs. DomUs'' disks are LVM2 volumes. Now I have increased the size of
one of these LVM volumes so I have to inform to the corresponding domU
that its disk has increased its size (to resize it without unmounting
it). How can I do this?

Samba4 quit working after update
There is no winbindd--it was never installed. I don't recall exactly why I
didn't install it, but I seem to recall something about Samba4 in an AD
domain control role not needing it. I ended up using SSS instead.

Update indexes with dovecot 1.1
Hello,
I have a farm of dovecot 1.1 servers (debian lenny). Mailboxes are in
Maildir format.
Is there any way to manually update indexes?
Does it worth? I mean... Our problem is that mail is delivered via
dovecot lda, but, because we have a farm of servers, we don't guarantee
that mail is delivered through the same server that the user is using
for his imap connection, so the imap

Problem with LMTP
Hello,
I'm having a problem with LMTP in a proxy server since I upgraded from
2.1.16 to 2.2.28.
In my logs I have:
Apr 26 12:54:17 musio12 dovecot: lmtp(2082): Fatal: master:
service(lmtp): child 2082 killed with signal 11 (core dumped).
As far as I could check the message is delivered in a later connection.
I have enabled core dumped files, but how could I debug it?

dovecot-auth restaring and caching
Hello,
I'm trying to configure dovecot (2.0.13) to cache user and pass dbs.
This a mail server whose purpose is only to deliver messages through
dovecot lda. My users are in a ldap server.
So I have configure auth_cache_size (with 20MB) and auth_cache_ttl
(with 1 day). I have checked that caching is being done, and it is. If a

Do I need to configure director?
Hi,
I'm configuring a farm of dovecot proxies redirecting users to backend
servers. The decision of which backend server is used for a user is
based in its ldap account information.
In my previous configuration I was using an inherited director
configuration in these proxy servers, but now I was wondering that
because the decision is made according to user information, I don't need

Doubt with imap/imap-login processes in proxy server
Hi,
I have a question I have not cleared after reading
https://wiki.dovecot.org/LoginProcess.
I'm developing a proxy server (without director, because the backend
server is specified by a ldap lookup).
My question is: the limit of imap (or pop3) concurrently users that the
proxy can handle is determined by the imap-login limit or the imap one?
