Dovecot frequently full-text reindexes the whole maildir
Hi!
I'm using Dovecot 2.2.13 (Debian Jessie package 1:2.2.13-12~deb8u1) on
my personal mail server (the address I'm writing from is on this
server).
I use Maildirs, I have fts + fts_squat enabled, and I have a problem
with it for a long time - dovecot seems to not update the index always
"incrementally".

I am running into a problem when trying to use fts_squat in a virtual
folder. Without fts_squat plugin the search (from, subject...) works in
all folders. With activated fts the search on the inbox folders works
expectedly well but any attempt to search anything in any virtual folder
leads to the following error. Similarly when attempting "doveadm fts

fts_squat was deprecated in 2.1. There's a high likelihood it is buggy in a variety of ways in any recent Dovecot release.

Dovecot 2.1rc1 + 2.0.16 woes regarding fts_squat
I can confirm the report posted in http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2011-November/062263.html that fts_squat no longer seems to be used after moving from 2.0.16->2.1 rc 1. I don't see crash reports in the logs, just "0 messages indexed". My search test tool just does a normal IMAP SEARCH for a long non-existent string. If there's another way to trigger re-indexing in 2.1, I

fts_squat + virtual => crash
Hi,
dovecot's imap process segfaults when I search a virtual mailbox using
the fts_squat plugin. Is this supposed to work, or a known bug?
I've seen some changes commited to fts_solr a couple of months ago
that where supposed to fix search issues on virtual mailboxes, maybe
fts_squat needs to be fixed to?

replication and .dovecot.lda-dupes

multi-instance doveadm user -m woes
I'm having difficulty with the doveadm who command on a multi-instance setup of dovecot. When I run the who command on the non-standard instance with the -m flag (to see their mail location), this happens:

search gives variable/different results
Hi,
When I perform a search using doveadm every time it returns different
results. For example:
$ doveadm search mailbox shared/\* TO stromvers
938ff10527d6be515f5900007b46f991 6

"doveadm log reopen" don't reopen separate lmtp log
I still see the issue below. Is there anyone running separate LMTP
logging that could check if they experience the same issue?

fts_squat hanging on some messages
Hello,
I recently upgraded to dovecot 2.0.2 (on gentoo ~amd64) and now
fts_squat's index building seems to hang for some of my mailboxes. The
imap process gets stuck at 100% cpu usage and dovecot.index.search is
never touched.
I traced the problem to a message (attached) for one of the
problematic mailboxes. Also attached are a full backtrace and the
output of dovecot -n.

Hi Michael,
thanks for getting back to me. I understand the alternatives to squat
are solr and lucene and have to be explicitly included into dovecot at
compilation. Unfortunately I am not in a position to manually compile
dovecot.
What other option do I have to use full text search in dovecot without
manually compilating my package?

[FTS Xapian] Beta release
Hi
Please find attached the beta release of FTS Xapian, with the objective
to replace fts_squat that is being deprecated.
Configuration is exactly the same as for fts_squat:

I've got problem with results returned by doveadm fetch. The are random

doveadm "-S <socket_path>" option enabled in 2.0.8?
I apologize if this is a stupid question but I just compiled 2.0.8 and am trying to use doveadm to get the quota for a user using the -S <socket_path> option because I have different options for the various local IPs that dovecot listens on.
For example, my default quota is filesystem (NFS rquota) and I can get that by doing:
doveadm quota get -u warden
which tells me:
