CTDB -- manually setting winbind uid with wbinfo
Hi
We have a ctdb cluster setup as follows
ctdb version -- surprisingly difficult to determine. I think it is
1.0.99 (dragged from a include file somewhere, I forget where exactly ).
If anyone can tell me how to determine this proberly then I would be
pleased to know.
samba version 3.5.8
I was hoping to be able to set the UID to SID mapping manually using the
following procedure.

idmap_ad - Unix attributes vs. Windows attributes vs. Winbind
Hi,
I'm using Debian Stable with Samba from SerNet (3.0.28-21).
Most of it is working, but there is one issue:
> filer01 ~ # getent passwd user
> user:*:1024:10000:Aiko Barz:/home/DOMAIN/user:/bin/false
> filer01 ~ # getent passwd | grep user
> user:*:1024:10000:Aiko Barz:/net/server.domain.local/home/user:/bin/bash
> filer01 ~ # getent passwd user
> user:*:1024:100:Aiko

Hello all.
I use Samba 3.6.3 on FreeBSD in combination with ZFS, and it all works fine.
I use zfs send to receive my store on a backup machine and i want the users id to be the same as on the master server so to say.
Keeps my backups easy accessable with samba!
Now i know i can dump the IDMAP database using the following: net idmap dump.
I expect a whole bunch of lines, but i get the following,

Newer Matrix Factorization Techniques
Hi,
I am not sure if this should go to r-help or r-dev list. I have looked
at some archives of R libraries but cannot seem to see a project that
focuses on the new matrix factorization techniques that are showing up
in the literature. I have made a list of them:
https://sites.google.com/site/igorcarron2/matrixfactorizations
they include Robust PCA, Dictionnary Learning, Sparse PCA and are

Experiencing errors after adding new nodes
Hi,
I had a 2 node distributed cluster running on 3.1.1 and I added 2 more nodes. I then ran a rebalance on the cluster.
Now I am getting permission denied errors and I see the following in the client logs:

help with routing and multiple subnets
Gents, first of all thanks for tinc, and thanks in advance for your advice.
At the risk of revealing my stupidity and opening myself to ridicule....
I am trying to connect a new remote lan into an existing tinc vpn with
the central tinc vpn server located at 10.57.132.1 on the 10.57.132.0/24

--cuesheet include the full cue sheet or just the seekponints?
Dear list
Sorry to ask a user's question on developer list. I didn't find the user
list.
I am experimenting with --cuesheet and encoded a flac file with a
cuesheet. Result is:
* Totem on opensuse 10.2 opens the flac file with no meta data, no
play list. "Next" button doesn't work;
* Mplayer on opensuse 10.2 opens the flac file with no meta data,

PCA sensitive to outliers?
Hi all,
I found that the PCA gave chaotic results when there are big changes in a
few data points.
Are there "improved" versions of PCA in R that can help with this problem?
Please give me some pointers...
Thank you!

firefox slow/unresponsive under KDE on CentOS 4
Hi,
I'm a user of a CentOS 4.4 system at our department (personally I use
Debian).
I use KDE and when I run firefox, it sometimes tends to be very slow in
response when clicking on links and especially when I click on the
navigation bar to edit the url: it sometimes takes up to 2-3 seconds
before firefox responds.
Switching to Gnome completely solves the problem without any other
changes.

how do you avoid "unresponsive script" timeouts?
I have a script which attaches an "add this to my cart" control to one
of N rows of files in a Web page using invoke on a collection gathered
with $$(''#mytable .mycontrol''). On most pages, this works great.
But I have this one killer page with over 3,000 rows in the table.
Once the script finishes loading, it runs really well. But that initial
load takes so long
