Full_Name: James Howison Version: 2.9.2 OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 Submission from: (NULL) (128.2.222.163) For quite a while now I have been unable to use Package Manager to install programs. I get the spinning wheel and long lock ups. This happens when I hit, "get list", but that eventually returns, seemingly successfully. However it also happens when I try to install a package, the whole

Re: virsh on mac os X
after a reboot into recovery mode, csrutil enable --without dtrace (ignoring warnings about how horribly unsupported this is). This eliminates the dtrace errors, but virsh remains ill. SMB share and .mdb files?
Hi. With samba 3.0.25b as part of Mac OS X 10.5.4 Server, I'm encountering issues with .mdb files: Some Windows apps use client software on local machines and one Microsoft Access database on the SMB share. Everything works fine, as long as there's only one client using the .mdb file. As soon as a second client tries to access (and write!) to the .mdb file, the clients on the Windows

Leopard SMB File Move Permissions Bug ?
Yea, I realize this is an Apple problem since they do their own things with Samba, but wanted to confer with the samba experts here as Apple has yet to fix this in the last year (10.5.2 to 10.5.5). I've recently report it to apple as still a bug but wondering if it might have a workaround? Scenario: You created or have an existing file on a mac smb share Permissions look like: -rwxr--r-- 1

I ran it once, then shut down without saving the workspace. Now it doesn't start at all. I've erased it a couple of times and re-installed (not installing the libraries I use, coda, MCMCpack, MASS and bayesm) but the same

double-quote tab crashes R (PR#9058)
Hi, This seems to crash my version of R: "<TAB> where I type a double quote, and then hit the <TAB> key. I was playing with strsplit, and wanted to give it a vector of characters including newline, tab, space, and so on. I've included the trace info from my macBook Pro (intel macintosh). segmentation fault with Hmisc areg.boot(): Now acepack avas failure
Hi Folks, Mac OS 10.4.4 R 2.2.1(2005-12-20 r36812) Hmisc 3.0-10 acepack 1.3-2.2 I had R crashes while running areg.boot in Hmisc (see old message below), but now I realize that the problem appears to be in the avas function in acepack. I tried running running the avas example (in acepack package), and got an immediate crash. Any thoughts? The Apple crash report (from R GUI crash) follows.

MacOSX 10.4.11 update breaks tests/lapack.R (R 2.6.0)? (PR#10454)
Hello, It seems the recent Mac OS X 10.4.11 update installed a new libBLAS.dylib in the Accelerate framework which either contains a bug itself or exposes a bug somewhere in R's lapack code on the PowerPC G4 and G5. My build of R 2.6.0 executed the tests/lapack.R code succesfully when I upgraded when 2.6.0 was released. After the OS update, it now crashes. This happens both with the version I

rsync patch to add Apple keychain support
Hi! In a project I'm working on, I needed a way to run rsync in daemon mode as a regular user without having the passwords readable to everybody accessing the console. With this chance rsync falls back to Apples keychain access if no secrets file is given. You need to put the passwords into the keychain like this (I do it programmatically bit it can be done manually as well):

More OS X issues
Well, I've "fixed" two problems so far with getting things built on OS X. If whoever did the OS X work is reading this, feel free to tell me where/how I've screwed up =) The first problem is that it couldn't find MacTypes.h in the path. MacTypes.h is simply a one line file that includes <CoreServices/CoreServices.h>, so I just replaced the MacTypes.h with that. In

rsync anomalies (OS X Tiger)
Tiger's rsync anomalies I'm trying to sort out some anomalies using rsync locally. Booted to Volumes/LaCie_Disk_A I create a full direct clone with: sudo asr -erase -source /Volumes/Mirrored_HD_Set -target /Volumes/LaCie_Disk_B then boot to it and check it out. Then booted back to Mirrored_HD_Set I do a little other work (i.e. some files are changed). Then for a differential
