SMBD panic with INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 6 for ARM 922T
I am trying to get SAMBA to run on a custom ARM 922T compatible micro controller. It does not matter how I try to start smbd (smbd -D -d10 or smbd i -d10) smbd keeps panicking at the same point with an INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 6. I have spent over a day trying to figure out what could be wrong but I am having no success. If someone could at least give me a clue as to what smbd is trying to do at

3.0.22 on solaris9 does not start as daemon
I'm trying to start smbd (samba 3.0.22) as daemon (smbd -D --configfile=/etc/smb.conf) on solaris 9 sparc with current recommended patches but the smbd process never returns from trying to become a daemon. Samba was built with ldap, (heimdal) kerberos and active directory support using gcc 3.3.2 from sunfreeware. Solaris 9 is a new install on a development machine with production patches.

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only programs I supplied where db and libiconv. I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security, and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg. When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11: (dbx) where

Printing problem
Hi, I ran into a strange printing-problem: We're using OpenBSD 4.2 and Samba Version 3.0.28 and include our printers directly from /etc/printcap; whenever I enter a printername that contains numbers, smbd gives me the errors below. Any idea why samba messes up with digits in printernames? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /var/log/log.smbd

winbind service panics "randomly"
Hi Rowland, thank you for another quick reply. 1) I did all the changes on the smb.conf you suggested and restart samba-ad-dc on both DCs. 2) Changed file server log to 10 and rebooted it just because. 3) Winbind crashed. 3.1) I have a gut felling that if I leave it alone, it lasts longer. If I do a wbinfo -u it's ok, but if I go and check it often, it eventually crashes. Again, gut felling,

smbd signal 10 on start-up - Samba 4.4.5, Solaris 10
Greetings, Have built and have Samba 4.4.5 running on my test Solaris 10 server. Works just fine on there. Cannot get plaintext+pam auth to work on 4.2.10
Hello, After an almost 19 year gap, I need to ask this list for help again :-) I have somewhat specific circumstances, where I think I can tolerate plaintext passwords on the wire as long as I get samba to authenticate against the system /etc/shadow (using PAM) in exchange. 0) I'm using Debian 8.4 (jessie), samba packages 2:4.2.10+dfsg-0+deb8u3. 1) I have created user smbtest with password

SWAT Won't Start - Alarm Clock
Hey everyone, If anyone could help me with this problem, I'd greatly appreciate it. Whenever I try to start swat (from the command-line by invoking /usr/sbin/swat), it sits there for a very long time as if it's running, but any attempt to use telnet to the port or point my browser at it results in nothing, as if swat were just not running. Firewalling is no issue, I've disabled

Problem with network browsing
SMBv1 (the anonymous thing behind network neighborhood) because of the massive security problems it caused was decprecated. Microsoft came up with network neighborhood and they've shut it down due to their bad implementation. Samba, likewise, doesn't support SMBv1 by default. If you have 1 member server, you could enabe nmbd in that server. Or install : llmnrd on linux and/or avahi-deamon if you dont have a member. And make sure you can use "proxy dns" as in, The primary DNS domain on linux should match (see in windows) CMD: ipconfig /all The : - primay dns suffix - DNS Suffix search order Then you are able to use \\hostname or \\hostname.FQ.DN.TLD

A reasonable alternative is to run Christgau's excellent Web Service Discovery host daemon (wsdd) on the samba server and make sure the Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication services are running on the Windows 10 machines. Get wsdd from here: https://github.com/christgau/wsdd.git You can then stop and disable the nmbd on the samba machines as it's
