Unable to use more than 1000 concurrent ntlm_auth processes
Hi List, I'm running a heavily loaded squid server that uses ntlm_auth to provide NTLM authentication. As load has increased over time, I've found the need to increase the number of ntlm_auth processes available to squid as well as the "winbind max clients" value in the smb.conf file. This has worked well up until now but seems I've hit some sort of limit. If I keep the

Suggestions? Multiple servers/storages one domain
Hi, currently we do have one samba3x-3.5.10-0.109.el5_8 RH EL 5.8 PDC authenticating by our central LDAP server. This PDS also hosts the central fileserver storage for all our +- 600 users, some group shares and roaming profiles. The clients are OS X, Win XP and Win 7. We hope to have all XP 'killed' by end of the year. Furthermore we do have a second stand alone samba server for some

Login batch file not working for Win7
HI I'm running samba3x-3.5.10-0.110.el5_8.x86_64 on a fully updated CentOS-5.8 system as PDC. We upgraded our lab machines to Win7 over the summer The logins work ok and the homes share is being mounted from a separate fileserver. However the login batch command script is not running. It's just a simple script which syncs the system time and mounts another share. Part of smb.conf

winbindd: socket dir
Hi List, Hunting around Google I've found a couple of references to using "winbindd: socket dir" in smb.conf to allow multiple winbindd instances to run but can't seem to find any doco on this feature. I have tried adding this to my smb.conf file but when I try to use ntlm_auth with this configuration any authentication fails and it returns: ntlm_auth --username=testusr

Samba 3.0.33 works, 3.5.4 doesn't
I'm trying to get AD authentication working on a RHEL 5.4 base system I can wbinfo -[ug] and getent {passwd|group} with 3.0.33 Everything appears to work just fine, except I could not actually authenticate... I'd always get failed password. A lot of Googling turned up a bug that indicated that it was impossible to get 3.0.33 to authenticate against a W2K8 AD, so I installed 3.5.4 Same

Update from 3.5.10 to 3.6.23 broke cupsaddsmb
As an update to fix the badlock vulnerability I applied some updates to our (RHEL5-based) samba printer server last night, taking it from version 0:3.5.10-0.109.el5_8 to 0:3.6.23-12.el5_11 (rpm package versions). After this change attempts to add printer drivers with cupsaddsmb produced errors of the form: Running command: rpcclient localhost -N -A /tmp/cupsc7GVnF -c 'adddriver

samba3x PDC and Win XP
I am at my wits end on this one. Ever since I upgraded to samba3x (present version 3.5.10-0.110.el5_8) in preparation for adding a Win 7 client, my WinXP client can no longer find their roaming profiles nor can they assign their home shares to a drive at login. Logins and authentication work just fine and I can see the home and profile shares from the Win XP client after login. My smb.conf

Winbind Issues with Server 2003/2008
Good morning all, I really hate emailing lists, but I've come to a wall that I just cant work out how to get past at the moment, so am hoping for some community assistance if possible. Some background: We are running Windows Server 2003 on all of our domain controllers, and are in the middle of migrating to server 2008 R2. We have unix exentions enabled (rfc2307 I believe), and manage

problem with domain and samba3x
Hi all About 18 months ago I connected 14 new Windows 7 PCs to a Centos5.1 server with samba3x as domain members. There are no other servers on site. Today, I had to visit to connect up a PC in a new location. As I would normally do I checked for Centos updates and found 35 outstanding including samba3x 3.6.23-12.el5_11 and samba3x-client, samba3x-common, samba3x-doc, samba3x-domainjoin-gui,

Linux domain member server: Win group does not map to UNIX group
Hi, all I've installed Version 3.5.10-0.109.el5_8 from the samba3x RPM for Win7 compatibility. We are predominately a Linux shop and have only a handful of Win7 (Pro/Ultimate) dual-boot workstations for running things like Photoshop, etc We run a fairly minimal LDAP backend for Linux auth/automount (no SASL backend) and have not implemented a full Samba schema - i am waiting to build an

suggestion for filesystem or general performance optimization
Hi, recently I noticed, that we have some performance issues regarding our central samba fileserver. Red Hat EL 5.8, samba3x-3.5.10-0.109. Doing a rsync, scp or accessing a share from a client and copy large files (e.g. 3 GB ISO), I do get a read / write average about 60 to 90 MB/sec. So LAN and general hardware can work at max. lan speed. But copying or syncing small files, e.g. user profiles
