Domain admins and samba
How can I give a user account the ability to join or add computer to the
domain?
Below are the steps I did but none work:
1. Edit smb.conf file and add the following line.
# domain administrators
domain admin group = root user1 user2 @sysadmin
domain admin users = @sysadmin
I have a group called "sysadmin" on my /etc/group profile and added both
user1 and user2.
2. Map

I'm trying to setup a samba server on my network. My network is not quite as
simple as examples in documentation, because it has an NT server running as
a PDC. I'm following the troubleshooting steps in book "teach yourself samba

Samba behind firewall
Hi,
I was able to join samba to the domain successfully (net rpc testjoin
command says ok) but could not see it in network neighborhood. I can't map
to it as well. The machine is sitting on a different subnet and behind the
firewall.
What port should I open to make samba accessible to all Windows XP client
sitting on different subnets and not behind the firewall. I want to make

Samba as fileserver on Active Directory domain
Hello,
We have a Gentoo box running Samba and is a member of the Active
Directory domain. This Gentoo box will be a fileserver when everything
is completed and setup as it should. I want our users to login to their
computer (Computers are all members of the same Active Directory domain)
using Active Directory accounts/domain for authentication. I am using

default backend = rid not showing full group information for users
Hello everybody,
I am trying to use the backend = rid but it is not showing me group
information of the users after adding the user to the domain groups...
What should I do to have the full group info for the users available?

I suspect a zone overlap.
Did you add an extra zone manualy in bind?
Or something like this... You added :
Zone1.Domain.TLD and then
Domain.TLD
But then with the reverse zones.
Because this :

> has no NS records
Does not look likes the samba_DLZ log lines but a pure bind log line.
Review you bind config and

Dead Domain Controller server
Good afternoon,
I have an environment with 4 servers samba 4 and yesterday one of them died, I tried removing it and not found, then recreated the server with the same name and joined him as a DC, however, he created a new uuid and sync entres servers I stopped, I had to force a forced sync:
# samba-tool drs replicate samba02 samba01 DC=example,DC=com,DC=br
# samba-tool drs replicate samba03

Which Debian version do you use? Because in either version (0 oer 10) in
nsswitch.conf is wirtten "files winbind" in Debian 9 it's "compat
winbind" and in 10 it's "files systemd winbind" so you removed (I think)
systemd maybe you should put it back in

I'm using samba 4.0.3 (host samba01) and samba 4.0.5 (samba02) as DCs. samba01 already existed and I used samba-tool domain join to join samba02 to domain samba.x.y.z. This worked quiet well, but now replication fails:

There is no apparent reason why the groups do not work with chgrp, the
only reason I can think of is that the group was created and when you
tried to 'chgrp' the file, winbind read from its cache and it wasn't in
the cache. Try running 'net cache flush' and then try
