Sidebar to Systemtap and Dtrace Comparison
My leaky memory says we moved entry-point into some form of debug record in the standard libraries, circa Solaris 8/9. Before that, my group maintained text files that listed all the entry-points and their parameters for libraries like libc.so, so that we could print out parameter values in apptrace(8). There''s a (small) chance the records are complete enough that dtrace could use the

CentOS at LUGradio Live 2006!
Hey everyone, CentOS has a booth this year at LUGRadio Live 2006, and we need some people to come hang out with us, help run the booth and tell the world what a great thing CentOS is. If you are in the UK this weekend, and fancy hanging out with some really interesting ( no, really, even geeks can be interesting ) people, come join us there. http://www.lugradio.org/live/2006/ >From the

DTrace unconference?
All, With Jon Haslam''s exciting news about the DTrace doc wiki (if you haven''t seen it yet, make your way to http://wikis.sun.com/display/DTrace), and with some of the discussion with the Apple folks, I''m wondering if the time isn''t right for something of a DTrace summit, perhaps as an unconference. The idea here would not be a DTrace user group (though that

entities and spacing: (em|en)dash and arrow
Hello, I notice that these entities are defined like this: def emdash opts "&#8212;" end def endash opts "&#8211;" end def arrow opts "&#8594;" end However, any space from the original markup is stripped, so "hello -- world" becomes "hello&#8212;world". I''ve overridden the methods to deal with

HTML handling in SuperRedCloth
I''m having all kinds of fun trying to get HTML to work "properly" in SRC (mild sarcasm). I''m still working on the problem, but wanted to run it by the group. Currently, Textile2 lets you put in HTML as long as it''s in the same block (i.e. no double-returns). <ul> <li>You can put HTML code right in Textile.</li> <li>It will

A Simple Idea
I had an idea to make the output of textile more meaningful and style-able, by adding automatic divs. I''ve made an example of what it would do: http://nickretallack.ao.net/projects/redclothplus/ View Source on the RedClothPlus page to see what I''m aiming for, and try out the various stylesheets to see some ideas of uses for this. Of course, there are a lot of other things you

Convert all HTML entities within <pre> tags?
Textile 2.0.0: bc. This is within a block of code, so < and > should be *entities*. You can talk about a <p> tag if you wish and it will be properly escaped. <pre> You can''t make something actually <b>bold</b> within. </pre> Output: <pre><code>This is within a block of code, so &lt; and &gt; should be *entities*. You can

hello hello.. as i am both developing and using my rails app on my laptop and as i shut it down at least daily (at night - to conserve energy), i had put the ruby startup server command (ruby script/server -d) in a cronjob set to reboot. that way, by the time i opened my browser, rails was already running. presto. problem is, now that im using redcloth (via acts_as_textiled), i get an error on

SuperRedCloth inserting <pre><code>
I maintain a web application frozen to version Ruby 1.8.6 and RedCloth 3.0.4 Whenever I insert a newline followed by a white space, SuperRedCloth, wraps the text with <pre><code> tags. Say for example I write ############### Hi This is me ############### This piece of text gets translated to <p>Hi</p><pre><code>This is me</code></pre>

Patch - bug fix for RedCloth when using !image! and :filter_html in combination
RedCloth.new("!image!", [:filter_html]).to_html will cause the following error: "error occurred while evaluating nil.gsub" This patch will fix it. Rel attribute in anchor tags
Hi there, I haven''t looked at the code but will it be possible to add rel attribute to anchor tags in super redcloth? It would be great! ATM i have changed the regexp in redcloth to use curly braces as rel tag when writing textile. Since target attribute don''t validate in XHTML strict and i still want to open some links in new a window. Old style ---- Textile:

recommendation?
Hi, what''s the status of superredcloth? is this the recommended one to use for a live site, or should i hold off and use redcloth "regular" for the time being? I don''t feel like being on the "edge", i just want something stable and usable. tia linoj

Redcloth bug - Stack overflow in regexp matcher
Hi, I''ve been using the rassmalog static blogging engine and have encountered a stack overflow inside the redcloth regexp matcher. I don''t seem to suffer this error on my Ubuntu (Feisty Fawn) box (with Ruby 1.8.4??), but I do get it on my Gentoo system. Running the following line will generate it (I''ve attached the YAML/redcloth file to this message). $ ruby -ryaml

Stability and usability of SuperRedCloth - particularly break handling
I was just wondering if I should upgrade to using SRC, as it sounds like it is going to be what becomes RedCloth 4. Reading the wiki and the announcements it''s supposedly under very active development, nearing release, and the breaking options are next on the list. Since there hadn''t been an update in a little while, I was curious where it stands now. The break handling in
