shared libraries on FreeBSD 4.*
I've used R for a couple of years on FreeBSD with few problems. Recently, a couple of the contributed packages seem to have difficulty finding symbols in the shared libraries. Currently, I'm running R 1.3.1 on FreeBSD 4.4. I've tried setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/local/lib and some other things. The packages I've had trouble with are: Matrix 0.3.15 RODBC 0.8.3 RSPython 0.3

RODBC Connections closed automatically in background
I am having a problem with RODBC's connections. It appears that my connection to the database is closed by R automatically before I am done with it. Here is my code: foo <- function(dsn) { db <- odbcConnect(dsn) odbcSetAutoCommit(db, FALSE) data <- someDatabaseOperation(db) data2 <- someLongCalculation(data) anotherDatabaseOperation(db, data2) # This often fails b/c the

segfault reading large BLOB from SQL Server
I am getting segfaults when I try to read a large binary object from a SQL Server database via RODBC. I am using the FreeTDS ODBC driver, and it has been working fine when reading from this same database. I have included relevant parts of the session below. Each row of the v_MAFiles view holds a text, html or pdf version of a document. The FileType entry is one of TXT, PDF, or HTML. If

RODBC: how to set the data-source?
Hello, I want to try to connect R to PostgreSQL. I have found that there are three ways: DBI or RODBC or RPostgreSQL. I tried around with DBI and RODBC but didn't get it running. In both cases I'm not clear about how to set the driver/data source. I get this error: x > channel <- odbcConnect("rtest", uid="oliver") x Warning messages: x 1: In

RODBC on FreeBSD 4.9
Hello. I have found a number of posts/threads on this subject and remain unsuccessful to determine the solution. In brief, my situation is: 1. Running FreeBSD 4.9 Stable in x86 2. Installed, and running, R 1.8.1 3. Installed, and running, postgreSQL 7.4.2 4. Installed, and running, unixODBC 2.2.8 5. Failed, repeatedly, to install RODBC. The following is my error log: tsunami# R CMD

Dear friends, there is a serious problem with RODBC on R from 2.6.2 to 2.8.0 on a postgresql 8.3 database. Let's say we define an empty dsn called "test", with user "postgres" and password "none". We test the connection with another application, and it works properly. When you call the database using RODBC, you get the following: >

Data source name not found, and no default driver specified
Using R 2.1.0, RODBC works very well for me. calloc bug in RODBC 1.1-7 and later?
I'm trying to load Affy Annotation data from an Access database into R using RODBC. This has worked fine for quite some time. The bug seems to be correlated to RODBC versions 1.1-7 and later. Works fine: R 2.2.0 with RODBC 1.1-4; R 2.3.0 or R 2.4.1 with RODBC 1.1-6 Fails: R 2.3.1 with RDOBC 1.1-7; R 2.4.1 with RODC 1.1-7 or 1.1-8 Details ===== This works fine: Version 2.2.0
