quarter end dates between two date strings
Hello, I have two date strings, say "1972-06-30" and "2012-01-31", and I'd like to get every quarter period end date between those dates? Does anyone know how to do this? Speed is important... Here is a small sample: Two dates: "2007-01-31" "2012-01-31" And I'd like to get this: [1] "2007-03-31" "2007-06-30"

Spliting a huge vector
Dear R users, I have a huge vector that I would like to split into unequal slices. However, the only way I can do this is to create another huge vector to define the groups that are used to split the original vector, e.g. # my vector is this a.vector <- seq(2, by=5, length=100) # indices where I would like to slice my vector cut.values <- c(30, 50, 100, 109, 300, 601, 803) # so I have to

Hello, If the exact value does not exist in the vector, can I still get at the intersections? Is there a simple way to do this and avoid looping? Seems like there would be a simple R function to do this... Example: vec <- c(5,4,3,2,3,4,5) vec [1] 5 4 3 2 3 4 5 intersect(vec,2.5) numeric(0) I want to get: 2.5 and 2.5 My real data is very large and I don't know the values of anything

Using two (...) in a function
Hello R-Helpers, I am not sure if it is a very simple question but I would like to use two (...) in a function, for example, this is a script where I would like to input the variable names (in one of the (...)) and the variances associated to those variables which are not calculated in the script because there is a specific software to calculate it (the other (...)) data <- function

fast way to compare two matrices of combinations
I have a list (length 750), each element containing a vector of unique strings (unique gene ids), with length up to ~40 (median 15). I want to compile a matrix of all possible triplets and their frequency within gene elements. Using combn and a lot of looping, I am accomplishing this but it is VERY slow. I've tried to figure out a way to vectorize this, using "match" and

Issues with using scalar evolution with newer versions of LLVM IR
Hello, I am trying to use scalar evolution pass using following command; opt -analyze -mem2reg -indvars -loop-simplify -scalar-evolution < vec.bc when vec.bc is generated using newer version of LLVM i.e LLVM 6 and 7 i get following message in the end; Determining loop execution counts for: @main Loop %8: Unpredictable backedge-taken count. index instead of loop?
Hello, Does anyone know of a way I can speed this up? Basically I'm attempting to get the data item on the same row as the report date for each report date available. In reality, I have over 11k of columns, not just A, B, C, D and I have to do that over 100 times. My solution is slow, but it works. The loop is slow because of merge. # create sample data z.dates =

Thank You.. Is there a fast way to do several hundred thousand ANOVA tests?
Dear R users, I have a matrix a and a classification vector b such that > str(a) num [1:50, 1:800000] and > str(b) Factor w/ 3 levels "cond1","cond2","cond3" I'd like to do an anova on all 800000 columns and record the F statistic for each test; I currently do this using f.stat.vec <- numeric(length(a[1,]) for (i in 1:length(a[1,]) { f.test.frame

COnfiguring an * system for a non-profit organization
Hi, Maybe someone has seen this before... I've installed a new T100P, but it doesn't seem to work. I've attached the T100P to an Adtran 750 using a crossover cable. The Adtran shows a red alarm on the T1 interface. The Adtran has been set to factory defaults with FXS cards in 1-3 and an FXO card in 5. The T100P shows no signs of life--the leds are not lit. Should I be seeing

Automate concatenation?
I have this typical problem of joining a number of vectors with similar names - a1, a2,..., a10 - which should be concatenated into one. Using c(a1,a2,a3,a4,a5,a6,a,a8,a9,a10) naturally works, but I would like to do it with less manual input. My attempts to use paste() gives a vector of the vector names, see below. The question is how to do the the concatenation? Any suggestions?

colouring a tree
Hi all. I would be very pleased if someone could help me, as I do not seem to get the different branches of my tree painted in different colours. The closest I get is colouring the names of my samples(=names of the branches). Here is the code. data <- read.table(file = "S://SEDIM//TRFLP//B12.5_50-700bp.txt" , as.is = TRUE, header = TRUE, sep = "\t", row.names =

templates with same name before extension are cached
Hi all, I was just wondering if this is the intended behavior. Here is my setup: controller def index respond_to do |f| f.xml { render :xml => true } f.html { render :layout => :none } end end In my views I have a file for each type index.herb index.xerb The first request I send is cached and interferes with the other one. For example, if I send an xml request

Lattice: vertical barchart
barchart(Titanic, stack=F) produces a very nice horizontal barchart. Each panel has four groups of two bars. barchart(Titanic, stack=F, horizontal=F) doesn't produce the results I would have expected, as it produces this warning message: Warning message: y should be numeric in: bwplot.formula(x = as.formula(form), data = list(Class = c(1, And it results in each panel having 22 groups of

paste adjacent elements matching string

fill data forward in data frame.
Hello, My direct desire is a good (fast) way to fill values forward until there is another value then fill that value foward in the data xx (at the bottom of this email). For example, from row 1 to row 45 should be NA (no change), but from row 46 row 136 the value should be 12649, and from row 137 to the next value should be 13039.00. The last line of code is all you need for this part. If you
