Net::HTTPResponse
Hello :) I have a problem with the Net::HTTP library...
The Net::HTTP library [1] uses a Net::HTTPResponse object for all it''s
responses from web servers. This class has many subclasses, such as
HTTPSuccess, HTTPRedirecttion, etc.
When obtaining a response, the library suggests to check what it is by testing
the class of the returned object - using case/when or kind_of? (which it does

A quick guide to Mocha
Hello :)
Having just gone through the (admittedly simple) API of Mocha to learn
how it works, I wrote a quick guide (190 lines) to help others get up to
speed. I''ve attached it as RDOC and as HTML.
It is a first draft - please help me improve by giving feedback !

Windows 3.1 and Samba
Has anybody got some experience with connecting machines running Windows3.1
or WfWG (3.11) to Samba? We would like to run a small lab network with
user accounts and a shared printer off the samba box. Samba is running fine
and there's no problem to connect to it from the Win95/WinNT machines...
Any help appreciated.

virt-install error: "virDomainLookupByName() failed got unknown HTTP error code 400"
Hi there,
I've been happily installing VMs in CentOS 5.2's Xen implementation using virt-manager. However, my latest attempt to use the install wizard in virt-manager failed when I got to the networking screen. The 'forward' button was unresponsive, and I was unable to proceed. I checked the virt-manager logs, and saw this appearing immediately after I tried to proceed:

via a crontab. ? It works for a while (ie exit status=0)? but the
rest then start failing with exit code 19200.?? I tried redirecting

compression script for use with zlib module
Hi,
I'm wondering if someone already implemented a compression script
(and would like to share it) based on the step-by-step provided on wiki
page of Zlib module.
I can already do some find|xargs gzip .... but couldnt implement it
completly as described on the wiki page. I know the suggested
step-by-step is very detailed and probably a must simplier will be
enough for almost

which retains the current semantics, but may

[semi-OT] Using fortune() in an email signature
Hello, As you can see from my signature in this message, I use the R
fortune function to generate a fortune, which is then fed to the
signature program, which constructs a named pipe containing the
fortune-bearing sig, which is then included in mail messages. The
problem is that it's got extraneous junk in it and I can't figure out
how to get rid of it. This is the command that generates
