2.1.7 altmove not working
Hi list,
I've just set up a 2.1.7 server, and have migrated a couple of accounts
across from a 2.0.15 server, keeping the old configs. I have a strange
problem on the new box in that altmove just doesn't work. I have my main
storage under /home/email, indexes under /home/indexes and ALT under
/home/email_archive.
When I run the altmove command, the following broken symlink is created

glm and capture-recapture
Hello,
I am almost new in R, so perhaps my question will be silly.
I try to use R for analyzing capture-recapture data in epidemiology. A cancer registry has different sources of patients. We know in each list, patients already known in all other list. The aim is to use capture-recapture models for estimating the number of patients unknow of all the sources.
Because no order in sources, one

[Fwd: Re: force create mode]
Thanks Bart for your answer.
I did what you say force create mode = 0770 (default creat mask = 0744)
but the files that are created are still with the rights rwx rwx r--
Strange !

Spurious data in file retrieved from Windows share via Samba
Hello,
I am using Samba to read a file on a Windows share from Linux.
Linux version is Ubuntu 9.04 (I think). Not sure about the Samba
version (sorry, can't check it now); it's whatever was packaged with
Ubuntu. Windows version is Windows Server 2003 SP 2.
Sometimes the file contains obviously spurious data such as
random bytes, and excerpts of programs or log files.
I'm not sure if

Testing a forest trusts in Samba 4.4.5 AD environment
Hi Alex,
Nice information about forest type.
Regarding listing domain users, have you tried to set up samba with:
winbind use default domain = no?

Linking mdbox directories
Hi Timo/list,
We have a scenario in which some email accounts on dovecot (stored in
mdbox, separate paths for indexes, email, ALT storage and also using SIS
for attachments, LDAP directory) need their names changed. I know we
could just change the mail LDAP attribute (and leave mailMessageStore
alone) so they keep the same directories on disk, but this would throw a
spanner in the works for

JBOD / ZFS / Flash backed
Thanks,
I suppose what I'm trying to gain is some clarity on what choice is best
for a given application. How do I know if it's better for me to use a raid
card or not, to include flash-cache on it or not, to use ZFS or not, when
combined with a small number of SSDs in Replica 3.

sambaPwdMustChange
Hi,
i have samba 3.0.10 installed with LDAP.
I noticed few days ago that my adminsitrator account has expired. I
think it's because of the sambaPwdMustChange field of LDAP. I changed
the passwd now i have the value 1108741705 in it. What does it mean
(when will i be prompted again to change my passwd) and do i have to put
in this field so that the password will never expire ?
Thanks for

Basic connection between Mitel 3300 ICP and Asterisk (trixbox) - from a clueless newbie....
Hi all,
Our company has deployed a Mitel 3300 system (only about 2.5 years ago)
and we are experimenting with setting up Asterisk in our head office
(for business continuity, ie we have a bird flu epidemic and no-one can
come in, therefore use SIP softphones at home to co-ordinate activity)
and at a remote site in the Isle of Man (connected via 2Mbps SDSL)
Ideally we'd like anyone on either

doc files with attribut r for user
Hi,
i upgraded from Debian sarge to etch, so from samba 3.0.14a-3 to 3.0.24
When someone creates/modify a file the user attribut is set to r
(instead of rwx) so the next time a user opens the file is's on read only.
What can i do so that the file keeps the attribut rwx for the owner ?
Another question : the file has the rigthts : -r--rwx--- but although
the user is member of the group

JBOD / ZFS / Flash backed
Thanks,
The 3 servers are new Lenovo units with redundant PS backed by two huge UPS
units (on for each bank of power supplies). I think the chances of losing
two nodes is incredibly slim, and in that case a Disaster Recovery from
offsite backups would be reasonable.
My requirements are about 2TB, highly available (so that I can reboot one
of the 3 servers without taking down services).

Testing a forest trusts in Samba 4.4.5 AD environment
Database size would interest us here, with and without trust if you have
these metrics. Global catalog is supposed to stored some attributes of
almost all objects of all trusted domains, if me understanding is correct
and we have no real idea about what that means in concrete terms.

RAID and JBOD are completely different things. JBODs are just that,
bunches of disks, and they don't have any cache above them in hardware.
If you're going to use ZFS under Gluster, look at the ZFS docs first.
Short answer is no.
