errors on multimedia guidance for x86_64
I have a fresh install of 5.4 x86_64 from a dvd .iso. All has worked well for several days, including kvm and WinXP running in a vm. Decided it was time to get the multimedia stuff up and running so I could listen to music CDs and watch DVD movies while working. I followed the guidance on the "Tips and Tricks" page for multimedia. Had no problem with the "priorities" or the

latest 4.1.2 RPMs for RHEL 5.8?
Hey folks, With all the troubles I''ve been having with the version of xen that comes with RHEL 5.8 I was wondering whether there is somewhere out there where I can grab more recent versions in RPM format. I pulled down the sources from xen.org but would prefer to avoid having to build it myself if possible. RPMs are much cleaner. Is there some place out there to get something newer

can't install mono-devel because mono-basic requires mono-core. But I have mono-core! What to do? I need gmcs.
Hi. I'm trying to install gmcs so that I can build gbrainy, a mental exerciser. I am not sure what package provides, maybe mono-devel? however mono-devel fails to install because, it says, mono-basic requires mono-core. I have mono-core installed. EPEL not working ... is it just me?
This is very strange - has been happening the last few days. I just upgraded this system from 5.3 to 5.7 on Monday and the problem started some time after that (but not immediately because I know I used yum Monday evening after the upgrade) I get the following error from yum, but it goes away if I --disablerepo=epel The funny thing is that the listed xml file I can easily wget from this

Switching to php53
I have a Centos 5.6 server which is using the default php packages. These currently contain PHP 5.1.6. My main use of PHP on the server is to support an installation of WordPress. I currently had WP 3.1.2 installed, but the WP developers have announced that from WP 3.2 they will only support PHP 5. and greater. So I investigated and found that the Centos repo contains a series of php53 packages.
