Samba 4.1.8 Importing automountmap ldif entries from existing OpenLDAP setup or ?
So, I have a test domain set up with rfc2307 = yes . Now I'm trying to figure out if a) my nfs automount data came over from OpenLDAP, and b) if not, how to get it into samba 4's ldap, or something else??? Do I need to rethink my approach? Mount locations are pretty consistent based on primary group/userid Needs to work on Linux. Existing entries look like this... # /u,

Geo-replication: queue delete commands and process after a specified time
Hello list, I'm toying with the idea of using Gluster as a user facing network share, and geo-replicating the data for backup purposes. At a bare minimum I'd like geo-replicate to not sync file deletions immediately to the slave, but instead queue those deletions for a configurable period of time (say 7 days). As an added bonus, moving a file would actually leave a copy behind with a

Suggestions for reliable DID provider forCanada, USA and Europe
I've had some serious issues with Teliax as of late with their "new" Denver server. DTMF issues, IAX2 connection issues, and major latency issues. They are blaming it on "1.2 vs 1.4 asterisk compatibility issues". I have had zero problems with their old servers. Voicepulse has been WAY better, but no flat charges, no 729. Frankly, even my broadvoice (yikes!)

samba_dlz: Failed to configure zone... already exists
Jim, It wasn't an implication that Samba4 would crash your server, rather it was a question of what happens *if* that box fails (power supply, memory, cpu, disk controller, etc. I've seen 'em all)? Consider this. I had one site with a Microsoft DC providing DHCP to it's clients and shared folders. When that DC failed due to disk controller, it stopped issuing DHCP leases.

Looking for configuration suggestions
I am in the process of completely overhauling the storage setup here and plan to go to glusterfs. The storage involved is 8x Coraid units, 2x JetStor and a Dell MD3000. The Coraid and JetStor are network connected via ATA over Ethernet & iSCSI. The disks are also being upgraded to 1TB in the process. I do plan to use unify to bring most if not all the storage together. My first

Suggestions welcome for expanded single array and redundancy
Hi We have started evaluating Glusterfs and I am very impressed with what we have seen and tested. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction or offer a solution. We have multiple servers which we wish to use for storage. We would like to have a single storage array accessible by client machines on the network. We would like to achieve N+2 redundancy but have the ability to keep

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Seems to be so, but if we look back at the described setup and procedure - what is the reason for iops to stop/fail? Rebooting a node is somewhat similar to updating gluster, replacing cabling etc. IMO this should not always end up with arbiter blaming the other node and even though I did not investigate this issue deeply, I do not believe the blame is the reason for iops to drop. Gluster replicate 3 arbiter 1 in split brain. gluster cli seems unaware
Hey Henrik, Good to know that the issue got resolved. I will try to answer some of the questions you have. - The time taken to heal the file depends on its size. That's why you were seeing some delay in getting everything back to normal in the heal info output. - You did not hit the split-brain situation. In split-brain all the bricks will be blaming the other bricks. But in your case the

Re: iscsi with gluster i want to make it
Hi Viraj, Gluster Ver. 3.x supports replication over WAN but currently very limited. I assume it will expand as time moves on. As for ISCSI. I doubt Glusterfs will ever support ISCSI. ISCSI operates at the block level. Gluster only works on the filesystem level. The only way to have iscsi on Gluster would be to export an iscsi target that is a file on gluster. As for snapshot and

I just wanted to be sure of the implications of what I was doing and what areas of the operation of Samba and CTDB might be affected given the confusing results of my ping_pong tests.

Suggestions on XEN configuration with local and remote iSCSI
Dear All, I''m totally new to DRBD + XEN over iSCSI but I need to configure this scenario in order to buy the right hardware. Our department will provide us with an iSCSI target which will be replicated in its own to a secondary iSCSI SAN (probably they will use DRBD). This target will be used, in our ideas, to replicate our own iSCSI san, that we are going to buy. We will probably

Setting up an iSCSI SAN
Hi, Has anyone ever actually implemented a replicating iSCSI SAN using CentOS? I saw directions here: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Ha-Drbd It looks doable, but I am not the strongest linux person and would like to hear if anyone has tried and if there any caveats. Also, I noticed that these directions are for CentOS 5. Is it pretty much the same for CenOS 6? Lastly, this might sound crazy,
