Dovecot usage values differ from actual disk usage
Hi,
in my dovecot setup the accounting database table shows wrong
values which do not correspond with the actual disk space used.
The disk usage says 2.6 Gigabytes:
mail01:~# du -sh /mail/dovecot/example.org/username
2.6G /mail/dovecot/example.org/username
While the doveadm quota get says 7 Gigabytes for the same user:
mail01:~# doveadm -f tab quota get -u username at example.org

Userdb userdb_mail=, error Mailbox list driver maildir++: maildir_name not supported by this driver
I have this default configuration [0], when use the userdb_mail to point
to the mdbox location, the inbox subfolders show differently in a
firebird client. So I decided to copy the whole default mail_location
into the userdb_mail configuration [2]. But then I get errors [3].
Should I change the namespace configuration here, how? My default
namespaces are inbox and 4archives

doveadm purge -A via doveadm-proxy director fails after some users
Hi,
we have configured userdb and passdb in the director and try to
iterate all users and pass the "purge" command via doveadm proxy to
port 19000 on the correct director backend host.
A single purge -u username at example.org via doveadm-proxy works correctly,
but iterating over some users with -A fails.
Note: users/domains have been anonymized in output:

lmtp proxy timeout while waiting for reply to DATA reply
Hi,
we are experiencing similar sporadic data timeout issues with dovecot 2.0.20
as in http://dovecot.org/pipermail/dovecot/2011-June/059807.html
at least once a week. Some mails get temporarily deferred in the
postfix queue since dovecot director lmtp refuses them and the
mails are delivered at a later time.
The problem applies to mails delivered to single users as well as distribution

Cannot delete subfolder in public folder
Hi there,
I have the problem that I'm unable to delete a subfolder (again) I
created within a public folder.
I've already read about configuring Thunderbird to delete immediately -
which I did. But it still doesn't work.
I delete -> the folder is gone -> I get a TB error message saying "The
folder doesn't exist" -> after restarting TB the folders appear again.

Dovecot 1.2.9 Crash, NFS
Hi,
I'm stuck with a problem we have with dovecot.
My suspicion is, that it has to do with accessing the same mailbox/mail stored on a NFS-share from two machines at the same time.
setup
We have to mail servers running, both run a Ubuntu 10.04, Postfix 2.70 and Dovecot 1.2.9.
The mailboxes are stored in maildir format on a NFS-Share.
In front of those to mail servers we have a load

With this setting, all folders are empty, I guess understandable,
because the mdbox has its own indexes stored locally with it. Does not
explain though why inbox is empty.

ACLs - creating new top level folders
Hi,
I'm wondering, whether it's possible, to define an ACL on the mailbox
itself. We use Dovecot 1.2.15 (included in Debian 6) and maildir
filesystem layout:
/home/mail01/user1/Maildir/new \
/home/mail01/user1/Maildir/cur Inbox
/home/mail01/user1/Maildir/tmp /
/home/mail01/user1/Maildir/.folder1/new \
/home/mail01/user1/Maildir/.folder1/cur folder1

user login on behalf of another user
Hello,
we are searching for a possibility to configure a user login on behalf
of another user with a PAM backend. This reminds to the behavior of a
master user. But a master user can access the mailboxes of all users. We
need this more restricted.
Example:
User "user1" and "user2" shall get access to the mailbox "info". We

LMTP : Can't handle mixed proxy/non-proxy destinations
Hello,
In my current setup, I uses two mailservers to handle the users
connections, and my emails are stored on a distant server using NFS
(maildir architecture)
Dovecot is both my IMAP server and the delivery agent (LMTP via postfix)
To avoid indexing issues related to NFS, proxying is enabled both on IMAP
and LMTP. But when a mail is sent to users that are shared between the
servers, I got the

convert-tool, exit code wrong?
Hello,
I use convert-tool regularly for converting mbox based mail accounts to
maildir based mail accounts. Today I tuned my convert script around
convert-tool. I'm irritated about the exit codes. It seems, they should
be inverted or am I wrong?

Understanding why Dovecot unexpectedly died
Hi list!
I use Dovecot 1.2.17 (I can't upgrade right now, due to many reasons),
controlled by Pacemaker (I have an HA-Cluster).
Now I see that Pacemaker restarts often Dovecot. I wrote my own script to
manage Dovecot, since Pacemaker does not have his own.
My script, by the "monitor" section has this:

Error: Widget field13 has zero width and/or height
Greetings,
An update via cvsup (attempting to chase 5.4 stable) on 2006-02-20 @2:40 PM
resulted in a couple of disappointments;
1) after re-building the kernel (cvsupped the SRC on SMP as well) and
installing it. I performed a build/ install world and portupgrade -a.
The portupgrade -a took 2 full days on a base of 246 installed ports.
And resulted in a *465 installed ports base*. Ouch! It's

What does the mdbox_rotate_size influence?
I wondered why mdbox_rotate_size is 2MB by default.
I thought if I increased it to 16MB, maybe there would be less disk io,
but I dont see any difference. Furthermore I read in some thread that
increasing it from 2MB, could give problems when deleting messages, can
someone explain this?
Does anyone have this on a cephfs mount, does it make sense to set this
to 4MB?

mdbox + zlib performing less than just mdbox
mdbox format is a cross between mbox and sdbox.
The idea is that it keeps up to mdbox_rotate_size sized mbox files which contain mails. Using zlib here will not help, because zlib is not applied to the full mdbox file, but individual mails within.
Also not sure why you think that adding compression would make things faster? =)
I am not fully sure how cephfs works but you might get better
