domain member in Windows 2000 domain
Hi, I would like to solve this (simply?) problem: I want to act SUN Solaris samba server (3.0.2a) as domain member in Windows 2000 domain. I made those steps described in documentation: 1. manual creation of Machine Trust Accounts (MTA) 2. in smb.conf: -> security = domain -> workgroup = muxo -> password server = * (I think I don't need add line for on-the-fly creation MTA, when it

Browsing / NetBIOS QQ
Hi all: I'm not sure where to begin. My setup here is Samba Version 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix acting as wins for a bridged OpenVPN network (if you know what that means). The net consists of 1 subnet (10.0.0.0/24). The OpenVPN Linux box also runs Samba, ip 10.0.0.110. There are 2 other windows/linux boxes "behind" the VPN server. There are "guests" (Road Warriors)

Tinc 1.1pre15 double-crash
Hello, this morning I apparently had tinc crash on me. In 2 independent tinc clusters of 3 nodes each (but located in the same datacenter), one tinc process crashed in each of the clusters. One process apparently with `status=6/ABRT`, the other with `status=11/SEGV`. Interestingly, they crashed with only 5 minutes difference. The only thing I can come up with that might explain this correlation

intermitent domain logon failures
I have an issue where at odd times, maybe after 3 days, maybe after a week, people suddenly cant do domain logons. Unfortunately the machine is 50km away so i'm sure theres more details I can glean once I can interogate the users a bit more. Things I have noticed: Anyone currently logged in can still work fine. A restart of samba fixes the issue (till it hapens next). ps ax shows smbd and

netbios name not found on clients
I've been using Samba for years, though I'm still no expert, and this one has me stumped: I have just upgraded from Mandrake9.1->9.2 which changes from Samba 2.2.7a to 2.2.8a. I am using the same smb.conf file (see below). I can still mount shares okay (though I do have a printing issue I haven't looked at yet) but only by ip address. e.g \\10.0.0.3\nick works but \\ratbert\nick

Multiple MYSQL hosts as passdb backend
Hello, I use mysql as passdb backend for my dovecot 2.0.6 installation. I have 2 mysql 5.0.77 servers with master/slave replication enabled. My goal is to ensure dovecot's ability to provide its services even when one of the mysql hosts are unavailable. Here is my passdb backend conf: passdb { driver = sql args = /etc/dovecot/mysql.conf }

Hello, I have something like this: SIPUSER <-sip-> ASTERISK <-oh323-> AUDIOCODEC <-e1-> PSTN After calling from SIP to PSTN (and from PSTN to SIP too) I can't hear anything only in my SIPUSER. At the PSTN side everything is OK. I have another network with another h323/sip (in the place of asterisk) and there everything is OK. In AUDIOCODES logs I see that everything goes

Different UDP and TCP ports?
Is it possible to use different port numbers for UDP and TCP? I'd like to open the TCP connection to one port on the remote server and stream the UDP packets to a different port. I've tried specifying both as BindToAddress and Address lines but it always just uses TCP. On 2 May 2017 17:36, "Guus Sliepen" <guus at tinc-vpn.org> wrote: On Tue, May 02, 2017 at 09:53:15PM

Problem with network browsing
SMBv1 (the anonymous thing behind network neighborhood) because of the massive security problems it caused was decprecated. Microsoft came up with network neighborhood and they've shut it down due to their bad implementation. Samba, likewise, doesn't support SMBv1 by default. Problem with network browsing
If you have 1 member server, you could enabe nmbd in that server. Or install : llmnrd on linux and/or avahi-deamon if you dont have a member. And make sure you can use "proxy dns" as in, The primary DNS domain on linux should match (see in windows) CMD: ipconfig /all The : - primay dns suffix - DNS Suffix search order Then you are able to use \\hostname or \\hostname.FQ.DN.TLD

A reasonable alternative is to run Christgau's excellent Web Service Discovery host daemon (wsdd) on the samba server and make sure the Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication services are running on the Windows 10 machines. Get wsdd from here: https://github.com/christgau/wsdd.git You can then stop and disable the nmbd on the samba machines as it's
