mdbox expunge purge question
Hi, I'm testing Dovecot 2.0rc2 with mdbox mail format and I'm not sure what this exactly means: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox Quote from wiki page: ===== Expunging a message only decreases the message's refcount. The space is later freed in "purge" step. This may be done automatically within the session or later in a nightly cronjob when there's less

Well, not for me. doveadm search -u user at domain ALL savedbefore 2d -- returns some messages doveadm expunge -u user at domain mailbox '*' savedbefore 2d -- nothing shown, but no error doveadm

getting rid of old spam from +spam Maildir ?
I'm trying to setup per user '+spam' delivery from amavis tags, so that each user gets any mails tagged as spam to 'spam' Maildir via +spam Dovecot lmtp delivery. after say 7 days I want to delete all spams older than 7 days, if I simply delete mail files from the file system, is that a 'bad thing' ? what is a proper way to do that, and scripts ? for

expunging all mailboxes
> doveadm expunge -u <user> mailbox '*' savedbefore 30d That doesn't work for me either. The command is accepted, but the messages are not expunged. I guess my search/fetch will just have to return the mailbox name, in addition to other fields, and then I'll need to loop through the mailbox names and perform multiple expunges for each user. I understand the desire to

Auro expunge
When using autoexpunge = 14 days in, for example. The trash of junk folders, does that physically remove the messages from disk or simply mark them to be removed and some other action needs to be taken? I ask because my mail server crapped out today and I discovered a Junk folder with 490,000 messages in it, and the sa-spamd and mariadb processes died a horrible death. Haven't had time to

expunging all mailboxes
Evidently, the 'doveadm expunge' command requires a "mailbox" to be defined in the search string. But is there a way tell it all mailboxes for a user? For example, something like: doveadm expunge -u user at domain mailbox ALL savedbefore 30d Thanks, Michael

expunging
I am having trouble scaling some regular dovecot cleanup operations on our servers. On a daily basis, I'm wanting to do this on each server, which contains its own isolated set of user storage: /usr/bin/doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash* savedbefore 21d /usr/bin/doveadm expunge -A mailbox Spam savedbefore 7d /usr/bin/doveadm expunge -A mailbox Sent savedbefore 120d but these are a very

autoexpunge - different settings for different users
I have some users where I'd like to expunge their mail at different times. For example, I may have some users who I want to expunge everything from every folder at 30 days. Others where I'd like to expunge everything at 90 days. And still others where I only want to expunge mail from the Trash and Junk folders, and nowhere else. Is there a way to do some sort of lookup for this? Or

Automatic purging of old email in all mailboxes
Forgive me, I'm a novice. Consider that today I have already set up a working postfix + Dovecot server with userdb using the static driver and passdb using a password file (in the format <username>:{hashing algorithm}<password hash>). The Dovecot server has several mailboxes which are already in use today. I understand that I'll need to change over to using the passwd-file

Problem with expire plugin and expunge
Hello, I am running dovecot 2.0.9 with expire plugin, using the sqlite backend. The following command is executed every day by cron: doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash savedbefore 30d I started to use the expire plugin about one month ago. Since then, using "doveadm search -A mailbox Trash savedbefore <days>" with different values for <days>, I could see every day how

doveadm expunge not expunging anymore
Hello, I have migrated my mailbox server from Dovecot 2.1.7 (Debian 7) to Dovecot 2.3.4 (Debian 10) and have a crontab setup in root to daily delete all mails in the INBOX of a specific user which are older than 90 days like this: /usr/bin/doveadm expunge -u username\@domain.com mailbox INBOX savedbefore 90d Unfortunately this does not work anymore. I also tried to run the command manually as

Automatic purging of old email in all mailboxes
I am using a postfix + Dovecot server as a test mail server for which some applications in our test environment use as a target to deliver email so that our real endusers don't receive messages from our test servers. A few of the mailboxes in Dovecot receive hundreds of emails per day. I'd like to automatically remove all emails in all mailboxes and mailbox folders that were received

Expuning & Purging doesn't fully remove emails?
But is that not adviced in the manual[1]? I am also in the process of setting up dovecot behind a haproxy. Still testing with this. I was wondering why one would choose haproxy and not eg dovecot proxy (with director) [1] https://wiki2.dovecot.org/HAProxy -----Original Message----- From: Zelic Bojan [mailto:bojan.zelic at kudelskisecurity.com] Sent: woensdag 26 augustus 2020 23:39 To:

Expuning & Purging doesn't fully remove emails?
Hello, I'm facing an issue where deleted emails keep re-appearing after my mailbox index gets recreated.??I'm running version 2.2.36 of dovecot, but I tested the same scenario under 2.3.10. I'm also using mdbox, autoexpunge, and using dovecot replication. I've had several instances now where some expunged emails show up again in a mailbox. I noticed this error: doveadm: Error:
