Firmware update via USB to Sony NEX camera
Hello.
I would like to update my newly acquired Sony NEX camera's firmware. The supplied firmware is packaged in a .exe that's listed on Sony's site as compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7. I ran the .exe under WINE, which was set to XP. The program executes and opens its dialog. The first thing it does is try to find the camera, connected via USB, and determine the

USB Wine support patch
I'd like to test the usb support in wine as it says on the page:
http://wiki.winehq.org/USB
I made the order process with the source Wine 1.4-rc6, baixeis the 2 latest patches in ftp://ftp.etersoft.ru/pub/people/amorozov/usb/current
the patch 0001-Add-support was accepted without errors, but the patch
0002-Re-generate an error there, which allows the wine to compile:

Wine help for newbie
Hi all -
I have a few questions - OK, a million questions, but just
a couple today. I hope this is the right list ...
I migrated (finally!) from Win7 to OpenSuse 12.1 64bit,
KDE4 a couple of weeks ago on a Dell Inspiron laptop dual
core Intel cpu/2Gz, 4meg RAM. So in most things I am
groping around in the dark.
This distro included Wine 1.3.30.

CentOS 6 mount of ntfs formatted usb stick fails
I recently received an 8GB usb stick that fails to mount on my fully
patched CentOS 6.5 desktop machine.
The stick works just fine on a windoze 7 laptop (my daughter's) with no
special drivers installed.

ANNOUNCE: cifs-utils release 5.0 available for download
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
It's been a while since our last release and Shirish's new cifs.idmap
utility has now been merged. The last release was 4.9, so I've been a
bit torn -- should I call this one 4.10 or 5.0?
Then I figured...when in doubt, copy Linus. Since he just bumped the
major version number of the kernel, this is now version 5.0.
The main changes:

Fwd: Unable to Get Sony IC Recorder (Digital Voice Editor 3.3.01) to Work with 32-bit Wine (Windows Emulator) in 64-bit Fedora 11 x86_64 Linux
Dear Alexander Morozov,
From the output of the command "ps -ef | grep wine", we can observe
that the native Windows USB driver ICDUSB2.sys for the Sony IC Recorder
gets loaded with winedevice.exe.

xrandr HDMI-1 and DVI-D-1 disconnected - External monitor not detected
The important thing for display detection/setting proper modes/etc is
the kernel -- what kernel version are you using?
Separately, there has been a fix that affected VBIOSes found in NV96
cards, and it would not be a stretch to believe that a similar VBIOS
script could be found in a NV92 card. However the NV96 error condition
was different (everything detected fine, but no actual image

Bootable USB keys : which brand ?
Hi,
In my daily work I'm mainly using USB keys for work : one with CentOS 7, one
with OpenSUSE Leap 15.1, one with Slax Live for data recovery purposes, one
with Ghost4Linux and one with FreeDOS which I use for flashing the odd BIOS.
Last week I bought a set of three flashy colored USB keys in a local shop. To
my surprise, none of them seem to be able to boot anything. When I write a

xrandr HDMI-1 and DVI-D-1 disconnected - External monitor not detected
Hi List,
I'm stuck how to get a dual head monitor solution to work with Nouveau,
running openSUSE 13.1 on my hp8710w mobile workstation equipped with a
Nvidia graphical card. Beyond the built-in WUXGA display, an external
WQHD monitor is connected to the HDMI port on the graphical card and/or
to the dual link DVI-D on a hp docking station.
To compare with SLED11/Nvidia driver running in

mge pc 675 does not work with usb-hidups
On opensuse 10.3, i installed nut and configured my ups.conf like i did it on
opensuse 10.2 by putting (10.3 , nut 2.2.0):
[MGEpc675]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = auto
desc = "MGEpc675"
instead of (10.2 , nut 2.0.4) :
[MGEpc675]
driver = newhidups
port = auto
desc = "MGEpc675"
But it doesn't work.
It appears that upsdrvctl

Trouble with TE122 on HP DL120G6 - can't disable USB
I have recently built a single-T1 Asterisk box using an HP DL120G6
with a Digium TE122 card.
I was finding that I was getting missed interrupts on the TE122,
causing the driver to report that it was increasing latency. It kept
doing this until the T1 did not work reliably.
I tried my usual procedure of disabling the USB subsystem in the BIOS
(or so I thought), but I found that the USB drivers

Problem: enable multiuser wine
Hallo, folks,
in openSuSE 12.1, I installed wine from the Wine CVS Builds repository. I knew it would work perfectly as of my experience on 11.4. In the end, it does! BUT I tried a different thing - it does run the programme, but only for one user!
To get the programmes installed under WINE working for every user (one single laptop, different accounts), I tried the following recommendation

Compiling old wine versions in opensuse 11.1
dear forum
I am hoping somebody can help me compile relatively old versions of wine (~0.9.10 -> 0.9.23) on openSuSE 11.1. I have a dual boot of opensuse 11.1 x86_32 and x86_64 and have had no luck with either.
I have successfully compiled wine 1.1.11 but have have the same failure with 0.9.10 and 0.9.20.
Code:

Integrating a dual boot system
After a succession of failed attempts spread over a few years, I have finally got a Linux installation that does nearly everything I need it to.
I've also got Wine working on at least a few things.
However there are occasions when I want to dip back into Windoze, and so I've got a dual boot system, which is OK, but it could be a heck of a lot better.
The relevant points are: WINE runs on
