Now available for testing: lwIP for PXELINUX
Eric Biederman has taken the work I did almost two years ago to port
lwIP to Syslinux, and actually gotten it to the point where it is
integrated into the filesystem stack and *working*.
As such, I have pushed out a new branch "lwip" to the git repository,
for testing purposes, and I have made a 4.10-pre1 prerelease which
includes this code.
I don't think it is ready for prime time

Strange behavior
I'm using syslinux 4.04 with dynamically generated menus configuration based
on info found in various web pages. I'm doing my testing using a vCetner
4.10 Vmware virtual machine. This works some of the time, but not always.
I just copied the prebuilt modules from the syslinux 4.04 distribution for
gpxelinx.0, menu.c32, reboot.c32, and pxelinux.0

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre7: a very special prerelease
I have produced a first cut of integrating gPXE with PXELINUX. This
builds, in addition to the usual pxelinux.0, an image called gpxelinux.0
which includes the gPXE network stack.
The result is that one can now download images via (almost) any network
protocol supported by gPXE, including http. This lets one do fun things
like using a CGI or PHP script for the configuration file.

gpxelinux.0 and slow HTTP performance on VMware ESX
Hi,
I found this message in your online mail archive, i have found the same problem and did some research in the past on this. Maybe you would be interested to know it is a problem on any virtualisation product not just ESX. Second it is a problem in gPXE that you embedded in gPXElinux. The problem was build in gPXE after version 0.97 so any gPXElinux build a newer version has this problem. I

gpxelinux.0 and slow HTTP performance on VMware ESX VM
Hi,
first of all I would like to voice my deep gratitude to all syslinux developers
for this really important software. I am using it in all my automation projects
and could not manage without.
Unfortunately now I stumbled upon a problem where I am out of my wits and need
some help.
The core problem is that HTTP transfers by gpxelinux.0 are very slow. Sadly this
problem seems to be somehow

lwIP hangs with gpxelinux.0 on qemu (-net user)
Has anyone played with the syslinux/lwip.git tree?
It works fine with pxelinux:
qemu -boot n -net nic -net user,bootfile=/pxelinux.0,tftp=/pxe
(although it hangs while trying to resolve www3.kernel.org because of
the lack of proper DNS with -net user)
The same command hangs earlier with gpxelinux.0 though:

Confusion on lpxelinux vs. gpxelinux vs. ipxe vs gpxe.
Hi All,
I've been trying to understand how to use pxechn.c32 to chain a local
pxelinux menu item to a remote server which has it's own pxelinux hierarchy
served via TFTP and HTTP.
We have no control over DHCP next-server and filename fields so I wanted to
exploit the "prefix" -p option that pxechn.c32 accepts.
I spent a long time hitting my head against a brick wall until I

chkrootkit and 4.10-prerelease issues?
Has anyone else seen chkrootkit (version 0.43) on 4.10-prerelease or
later report chfn, chsh, and date as infected?
I built world yesterday, and my nightly chkrootkit reports this on run.
I've replaced the binaries with their 4.9 equivalents, and things don't
report as infected. I upgrade the 4.9 machine to 4.10, and chkrootkit
reports them as infected again.
Is this similar to the

[5.xx-6.01] broken PXE with HTTP
Hello
With 4.06 this works fine all times. But with versions 5.1x-preX and
6.0x-preX, 6.01) does not work, random errors or nothing shows
(netconn_write error -5), random behaviour. Only few times works
(1/50...). Note that retriving files via TFTP works perfect in all cases.
This happens using pre-compiled files in tarball and building for source.

Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
System: Dell OptiPlex GX620 (Both BIOS A10 and A11 affected)
Medium: Physical CD-RW
Observed: ISOLINUX 5.11 0x51D1AE48 ETCD_ is the only line displayed
on-screen. A flashing cursor trails at the end of the line. Escape key does
not return boot: prompt.
Line1 of syslinux.cfg: DEFAULT vesamenu.c32
Note: Reverting to syslinux-4.06 allows for successful booting on the same
system.

Syslinux 4.04 gpxelinux.0 http performance problem with VMware VMs
Hello,
In my testing environment I have two VMs on ESXi 5.0.
VM A = dhcp/tftp/PXE/http server, running CentOS 6.2. Syslinux 4.04 with the included gpxelinux.0.
VM B = PXE boot client.
If I run CentOS 6.2 also on the VM B, I can easily transfer 50+ MB/sec over http between the VMs (wget, links).
Now, if I PXE boot gpxelinux.0 on the VM B, and start to download bigger initrd image
over http the

SYSLINUX 3.10-pre21: ISOLINUX fixes, MEMDISK changes
I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.10-pre21; this fixes ISOLINUX, and
adds a fix for MEMDISK -- it so happens that running ISOLINUX under
Bochs triggers a bug with similar behaviour as I've seen reported on
here, so I'm *hoping* this might fix the "doesn't work without harddisk"
problem and perhaps the IBM/USB problem some people have been reporting.
Again, I really want

Problems with gpxelinux and Broadcom 57711
Hello.
We are using gpxelinux from SYSLINUX 4.02. We recently purchased some HP
Proliant BL460c G6 servers with Broadcom BCM 57711 10Gbit NICS.
We have a very simple pxelinux.gpxe script compiled into gpxelinux.0:
#!gpxe
set use-cached 1
dhcp net0
chain http://webserver/gpxe/gpxe.php?IP=${net0/ip}
The PHP script dynamically creates a config file that looks something
like this:

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA,
I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken
in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and
3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work
fine with the same config. The error message I get is:
