Bad Form?
Hi,
This is my first post, I wanted to ask a quick question about "Bad Form" --
rather, am I doing something with Mechanise I shouldn''t be doing?
Here''s the long and short of it - I am using Mechanize with Cucumber and
RSpec to test a *ahem* Perl XML web service.. talk about technology soup,
but I have it working quite well.
I have an example project on GitHub that

but i got a first problem with the login process

Design ideas
I''m trying to use mechanize against a site that has four fields in the
form. However, those four fields have to be filled in order.
So putting something in field one, populates the second field drop down.
So I''m thinking that I''ll probably have to call the page multiple times?
What sort of things should I be doing to figure out how to interact
with this page.

Scraping and saving.
Hi,
I''m working to scrape and save some ebooks. Mechanize has been
wonderful so far. The link I''m having trouble with is this one.
http://www.webscription.net/SendZip.aspx?SKU=0671578499&ProductID=379&format=H
When I click that in the browser it saves it to a file named
H_1632.zip. How do I get that name from the page. I suspect to save
this to a file I would just do

mechanize: 400 Bad Request
Hello,
when trying to access a certain HTML-frame, I get:
"in `request'': Unhandled response (WWW::Mechanize::ResponseCodeError)"
and the page returns: "400 Bad Request"
* Why?
* How to solve this?
With browser, it works.
In the logs below, I marked 4 lines with "***", where I see possible
differences in the URI. But I don''t know, if this is

Mechanize::Agent#post_connect_hook response != Mechanize#parse response
I''m working through an idea for a db-backed cache for Mechanize#get().
The idea is to use a Mechanize::Agent#post_connect_hook to cached any
fetch data, and create a subclass of Mechanize::Agent#get() that
checks the cache before calling super. I want to store the un-parsed
(raw) page in the db, and call Mechanize#parse when there''s a cache
hit, something along these lines:

please suggest a web page automation tool
I''ve been trying to get a couple of web automation tools going today
and having a hard time. Seems like everything I try is outdated and
won''t run on my environment. Mechanize seemed like a good one but it
doesn''t want to run:
require ''rubygems''
require ''open-uri''
require ''mechanize''
agent = Mechanize.new

Response To Form Submission Hanging
Hello,
I am using Mechanize to post a form to a website. When I do this by
hand in my browser the response takes about 35s to come back (it''s a
long page full of tables and graphics). When I do this with
Mechanize, the server starts to respond and then appears to hang.
The obvious conclusion is that my code is wrong but I am reasonably
sure that I haven''t altered it

rspec model testing - test on user defined validation- How do I test that the create failed.
I''m new to rspec and looking for way to test a validation I added to a model.
The test checks to see that if field1 has a value then field2 must be nil
and vice versa.
-------------------------------
When I did the rspec_scaffold it generated one test which worked
before :each do
@valid_attributes = {

has_one problem in a form
Hello all,
I have a syntax question. How does one refer to a field brought in via a
has_one/belongs_to relationship in a form helper? Basically, I have two
models:
class Resource < ActiveRecord::Base
has_one :other_thing
end
class OtherThing < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :resource
end
It has the normal id-resource_id foreign key relationship. OtherThing has
two fields, plus the

Conditional data frame manipulation
Hi all,
My current project brought forth the snippet below, which modifies in each
row of a data frame a certain field depending on another field in the same
row. Dealing with data of some 30000 entries this works, but is horribly
slow. Can anyone show this newbie how to do this properly (faster ;0)?
for (i in 1:nrow(dataframe)){

Not accepting nil values in fields when CREATING a record
Hello,
I have a question for you.
In my application, I want to make sure that the database doesn''t have
any NULLs in fields.
I can''t use validates_presence_of, because it will puke if there''s an
empty string ("")
So... is there an EASY way to check if a list of fields is null?
Right now, I''m doing:
def validate()

How to use R to perform prediction based on history data
Say I have a csv file, each row contains several fields, one of them
are whether the row is success.
In history data, I have all the fields including the result of whether
it is success. In future data, I only have fields without the result.
For example:
history data:
Field1 Field2 Field3 Field4 ResultField
1231 CA TRUE 443 TRUE
23231 NC TRUE 123 FALSE

Form Validation
Hi,
I''ve got an interesting one here :)
I have a form with three fields :
serial_number
initial
surname
now, if serial_number is entered, it must be between 1 and 64000. If
it''s filled in, the other two fields must be blank. If serial_number is
left blank then the other two boxes must be filled.
Any suggestions?
