Cisco AnyConnect on 6.2 32-bit?
Grr.. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get the Cisco AnyConnect client to work under 6.2 32-bit. Seems like there is always 1 thing preventing my from using the latest centos release as my sole workstation. It was actually working on a new install for about half a day. I rebooted and now it won't connect. If I boot another vm (ubuntu or oel 5.7) the same client works. Im using version

kernel: nfs: RPC call returned error 88
We have a 2-node Oracle RAC that keeps getting the following error: kernel: nfs: RPC call returned error 88 The storage being mounted is netapp. We don't see any errors/issues on the storage itself or the switches this client is connecting thru. The NFS network is a 2-interface ( 2 x 1Gb UTP) bond which shows no errors of any kind. We are mounting with the following mount options:

facter fails to recognize OEL/OVS in operatingsystemrelease.rb
For the benefit of those running OEL (Oracle Enterprise Linux) or OVS, be aware that under 2.6.0rc4 facter doesn''t properly recognize OEL in /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/facter/operatingsystemrelease.rb. A diff for a fix is below; probably not the best fix but if you need it work now, this''ll do it for you. I''ve already filed a bug:

OCFS2 upgrade on OEL 4.4 server
Hi, We are using OEL 4.4 server as Oracle Concurrent tier, we have two servers in the cluster. We have upgraded the OCFS2 from 1.2.7 to 1.2.9-1 about a week back in the DEV server. I have read about OCFS2 1.4 and it seems that the performance has improved in OCFS2 1.4. We have OCFS2 performance issues, we are facing this in prod as the file count increases in a log and out directories under

Xen Express/Enterprise/Server support for OEL
Guys With the advent of Oracle''s foray into packaging their own flavour of linux are there any plans to incorporate OEL (Oracle Enterprise Linux) support into XenExpress/XenEnterprise/XenServer? Specifically vm creation/import/export etc..? Since OEL is based on Redhat I''m assuming this would be relatively trivial?? Thanks in Advance Mike.

Mounting /tmp nosuid,noexec
Does mounting /tmp as noexec, nosuid break anything in CentOS 5? I've been in solaris land forever and a day and this is a pretty standard security measure. I noticed CentOS comes default mounting /tmp with both those options allowed.. I'm getting constant php hack attacks against (mostly script kiddie level stuff right now) my server and will rest much easier with this setting in place..

any significant differences between centos and OEL?
someone just pointed out to me that there is a distro called "oracle enterprise linux" which is effectively a re-branded RHEL, so i'm curious -- has anyone here used both centos and OEL and would there be any differences that would be worth caring about? the only thing i can think of that might be worthwhile is that OEL might change some of the default kernel parms thru

Please help: domU becomes unresponsive
Hi all, sorry to intrude on xen-devel, but I think I need direction from the expertise here. I''ve admin''d Xen servers of various flavors for a couple years, but never seen this before. After a period ranging from several hours to several days, my primary database and development DomU completely locks up. Net disconnects, but CPU(sec) continues to tick in xentop. No errors, and

ANNOUNCE: Facter 1.5.8
For 40 days and 40 nights Facter wandered in the wilderness sustained only by the occasional patch and bottle of Kool-Aid. Xen vs VMWare comparison paper
One of my customers handed me a copy of this paper and asked why are we using xen if it is so slow... http://morse.colorado.edu/~tlen5710/12s/VMware.pdf which is a fairly damning report of performance under Xen in comparison to VMWare, citing worse than 50% overhead of Xen in comparison to physical. Has anyone seen this paper before? James

altering revert effect based on if dropped on given droppable?
Hi All Does any one know how to specify a different reverteffect on a draggable if its successfully dropped on a given droppable? What I need to do is when an image is dragged onto a droppable image I want the drop image to be replaced with the drag image, the drag image to fade out and then reappear where it was at the start of the drag, as opposed to the draggable scrolling across the page

Virt-what on OEL 5
Hello, I''m trying to install facter latest on OEL 5.5 but can''t because virt-what doesn''t appear to be in the oracle repositories or EPEL. Can anyone confirm/deny this? ssh-agent too easy to hack
1/ Most correctly configured unix servers are fairly secure. Workstations on the other hand are extremely easy to compromise. Even if the eeprom (on a sparc) is password protected the fact that a hacker can get physical access to the machine means that it's very likely to be compromised, but thats just life. (I'm sure at least some readers on this list will at some time in there life have
