Upgrade 6 to 7
I found this site https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/CentOSUpgradeTool Is this still the case - there is no upgrade path from 6 to 7 ? I have a few remote servers I'd like to upgrade (if possible). Thanks, Jerry

SCSI drives and Centos 7
Everyone, about 4 years ago, I tried to install CentOS 6 on a Supermicro server with SCSI drives using a LSI raid system. I could never figure out or find a way to make the installation disc of Centos 6 identify the SCSI drives. The installation disc for Centos 5 identified the SCSI drives without a problem. I finally gave up on Centos 6 and installed Centos 5 and the system has worked very

Using dovecot sasl for authenticating in openldap
Hi, I am using dovecot imaps and exim, both authenticating using dovecot-sasl. To keep passwords in one place I would like to authenticate openldap users over dovecot-sasl. So looking at this page: http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/security.html I figure it could be done using Pass-Through authentication. For this, I need to create /usr/lib/sasl2/slapd.conf And adding a few config

restricing port forwarding ports server-side
I'm curious as to whether or not there is a way to restrict forwarded ports server side. For instance, I'm running an IRC server and am allowing users to connect via ssh forwarding (so I can take advantange of using openssh's public key method for authentication). Each client I tell to setup their ~/.ssh/config in a certain way, but the relevant line is: LocalForward 6667

PDC / BDC in a Samba Domain Controller.
Hello I makeing a Domain Controller with Samba (v3.0.33) and LDAP (v2.4). I will install a PDC in the headquarter and a BDC in the subsidiary of the company that I work. The PDC and the BDC will have his own LDAP data base. I just install the PDC without problems and my next step is to install the BDC. I configured the LDAP that work in multi master mode. I made some test and the LDAP works

PDC, BDCs - how do you synchronize roaming profiles?
Hello, I'm about to deploy Samba PDC and several BDCs. As far as I understand Samba and domain logons, this means that a user will be able to log onto any server, with his workstation choosing a domain controller that is probably the closest/fastest etc. one. As a consequence, this also means, that on each server there has to be a copy of a profile of a given user, right? If so, how can

pks for openssh
I was directed to the following site by one of our customers regarding a keyserver built into openssh. There's a patch for 3.4p1 on their site, but the license isn't very clear, nor is it clear if they have approached the openssh team regarding the inclusion of this subsystem into openssh proper. I've been asked to patch Mandrake's openssh with this feature, but I'm

UID/GID CentOS 6 to CentOS 7
Hi, we are upgrading some servers from C6 to C7 with a lot of user accounts on them (UID>=500). CentOS 7 has MIN_UID/MIN_GID 1000, Centos 6 has 500 in login.defs. Can I change in /etc/login.defs MIN_UID/MIN_GID to 500 for C7? So I could just grep the users out from passwd/shadow/group files and append them to the Centos7 passwd/shadow/group files. Can this do any damage to CentOS7 later

[OT] Fetchmail and Mutt help
Hi All, I setup Fetchmail and wanted to use Mutt to read e-mail. I used to use Pine and I just am sick of GUI e-mail clients these days. Bloat, complication and unreliable. Pine was my first ever e-mail client. I prefer to use POP still as I want may mail on my machine at all times. I can go into mutt and execute: 'fetchmail -v' and watch it bring down my e-mail. But in mutt i dont see

[LLVMdev] Repository Layout
All, I'm finding the current layout a bit frustrating, not to mention that it breaks all the documentation. We currently have modules laid out like this: llvm/trunk/... llvm/branches/... llvm/tags/... stacker/trunk/... stacker/branches/... stacker/tags/... and similarly for all the other modules (test-suite, java, poolalloc, etc.). Unfortunately, this "standard"

Getting slapd under CentOS 6 to log connections, etc.
I am running the stock OpenLDAP-servers on a CentOS 6 system. Everything is working just fine, but I am trying to debug connections from a Ubuntu (18.04) system and want to turn on logging in slapd, but although I can get slapd to create a log file, it never actually writes anything. I have these two lines in /etc/openldap/slapd.d/cn=config.ldif: olcLogFile: /var/log/slapd/log olcLogLevel:

LDAP issues with 3.8.1p1
Hello, I have recently compiled and installed release 3.8.1p1. This was done on a Solaris 8 system using LDAP as its naming service. The new release, however, will not let me log in (as a regular user). I repeatedly get "Permission denied, please try again" messages. The root user, though, can log in okay. The same thing happened with the 3.7.1p2 release. The 3.6.1p1 release

191st simultaneous call fails
I've been testing both T400P and TE405P boards and I'm running into some kind of hard limit on the number of simultaneous calls. This is on x86 with 2 Athlon MP 2800+ CPUs running Fedora Core 1. Everything is fine up to 190 channels, but the 191st call fails every time with errors like: Dec 14 15:44:00 WARNING[1215]: Unable to start PBX on Zap/201-1 Dec 14 15:44:00 WARNING[1215]: Failed
