white lines in barplot
Dear R-helpers, I would like to draw white lines in my barplots to improve the visualization. I include an example: barplot(sample(1:100,15),width=0.59,horiz=T,col="steelblue",border="NA",axes=F,ylim=c(0,10),xlim=c(0,100)) abline(v = seq(10, zehnind, by = 10), col = "white") axis(1,at=ticks,las=1,labels=paste(ticks,"%",sep="")) my problem is,

plot: many bars with wide bars
Hello, I have got another problem. I wrote a function which is able to create plots with different numbers of bars. In order to give them a similar look I determined the width of the bars using the parameters width=0.59 AND ylim=c(0,10)) (see function below) Now, this only works if I have just got up to 6 double bars. In the following example it doesn't work because the bars for the

barplot: border color when stacked
Dear R-users, I am using R version 2.10.1 under windows. In a barplot, I want to mark one of the bars with a special border color. For example: barplot(c(3, 7, 11), border = c(NA, "red", NA)) But how to do this when the bars are stacked? for example: barplot(matrix(1:6, ncol=3)) # border of second bar (i.e. the one with total height = 7) should be red again, I try: barplot(matrix(1:6,

Multiple symbols per single line in a legend
Hello everybody, Is it possible to coax legend() into displaying more than one simbol per line in legend? I have a graph like the one attached to this mail; I would like to reorganize the legend in such a way that the duplicate text would be omitted, i.e., the first line would read <square> <triangledown> "increasing frequency" and the second one would read <circle>

barplot can put legend in wrong place, request option to override that (PR#13265)
This in an enhancement requestion, to add the capability to pass arguments through barplot() to legend(). I've created a version that does this. # Run this code; notice that the legend # is superposed over one bar: barplot(height = cbind(x = c(465,91) / 465 * 100, y = c(840,200) / 840 * 100, z = c(37,17) / 37 * 100), beside = FALSE, width =

legend() graphics output bug (PR#5725)
Full_Name: Daniel Gasser Version: 1.8.1 OS: Win XP Submission from: (NULL) (130.60.20.92) The legend()-Function shows a different behaviour than it did in Version 1.6.1. It plots a black box left of the legend lines on each legend row. In 1.6.1 there was just the line in appropriate color for each row in the legend (i was using exactly the same legend statement and same plot function). My legend

dear r-helpers, i created an object named A, which looks like this: A <- c("4.4","1.9","4.1") now i needed to get numbers instead of characters and for this i used the function: as.integer(A) which resulted in: [1] 4 1 4 My question is, why the numbers are rounded or more impotantly if there is a way to keep the decimal numbers? open source editor for r for beginners
Hello all, I am looking for an editor for R which has got functions beyond the normal R editor that is included in the program. I had a look at VIM but I think it's difficult if you are just starting programming. Could anyone recommend an editor that is suitable for beginners? Thanks for your help. ylim problem in barplot
R Version 2.2.0 Platform: Windows When I use barplot but select a ylim value greater than zero, the graph is distorted. The bars extend below the bottom of the graph. For instance the command produces a problematic graph. barplot(c(200,300,250,350),ylim=c(150,400)) Any help would be appreciated. Paul [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

R-alpha: barplot()
I've created a hacked version of barplot() which is more compatible with the S version, but currently ONLY FOR VECTORS. Differences && new features: * The `space' argument is interpreted as the fraction of the average bar width. (The current version has the width of the bar plus the space in between constrained to sum to 1.) * There is a new argument `width'. * There is a

trouble positioning legends on barplot written to a file
I'm trying to generate some plots for print publication and I'm having trouble getting them the way I want. I get a plot with a legend that overlaps the bars and looks bad. Also, I'm saving this as PDF file (whatever happened to the "png" function to save as PNG format, in r 1.4.1?) I've tried a number of things, which produce a number of questions. 1) it seems that the
