i have the same problem .. latest wine folder .. same ubuntu version .. and when installing the mfc42 and/or vcrun6 and comctl32 dlls via winetricks .. is it ok if i just download the files, and place them in the sys32 directory and run the regsvr32 for those dlls if necessary ???? thank you for your valuable feedback!

I have a Ubunu 8.04.1 system that has been running a package under wine with no problems since last June.
