Upgrading Samba
I have a fairly old Samba server, 3.0.25, on CentOS 4.8. I'd like to update
it to something more modern, so I grabbed the "Enterprise Samba" 3.5 RPMs
for RHEL, and went to work on a test machine.
After upgrading via "rpm -U ./*.rpm", starting nmbd and smbd, I can no
longer log in to the domain, I get:
netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Rejecting auth request from client

Upgrade Samba 3.0.28 to 3.6.0 problems
Hello,
having a problem upgrading a samba installation version 3.0.28 on a
FreeBSD 7.x server. I use samba as a PDC with roaming profiles and user
shares.
I have to upgrade it to allow Windows 7 Pro workstations to join the
domain.
I was able to build the binaries sucessfully and install them, everything
ran OK, but....
I noticed that my smbpasswd file had I guess been relocated and I had to

wireframe
I've been using lattice/wireframe succesfully to visualize some data.
I have one question.
I want to be able to change the viewpoint ( i.e. rotate the plotted
figure a bit left or right or up and down )
Is there a way to do that?
Or is there some other package around that could help?
Thanks.

server change
Hi,
Recently we changed our samba server to a bigger and more powerful system ( centos 5.2 )
The config file and smbpasswd and other passwd and group files were copied to the new server and it then assumed the same identity as the old one in the dns and ip address.
It seems to have gone very well except we now seem to have a problem.
There are windows XP workstations that were domain joined to the

Hi all,
apologies for seeking advice on a general stats question. I ve run
normality tests using 8 different methods:
- Lilliefors
- Shapiro-Wilk
- Robust Jarque Bera
- Jarque Bera
- Anderson-Darling
- Pearson chi-square
- Cramer-von Mises
- Shapiro-Francia
All show that the null hypothesis that the data come from a normal
distro cannot be rejected. Great. However, I don't think it looks

need migration/upgrade help
Hello All,
I am trying to migrate samba from a box with Mandrake 10.1 with Samba
3.0.10 to a new box running CentOS 5.2 with Samba 3.0.28. The two
versions of samba are too differnet to simply copy the config and tdb
files over to the new box and the Mandrake box won't upgrade past
3.0.10. I could really use some suggestions. Thanks
The problem when I do that is the Centos box with Samba

Problem adding new users after upgrade to 3.4.0
After upgrading to 3.4.0, I can no longer add new users. Any users that were added beforehand work fine. Any users that I attempt to create cannot login (error: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE). I was able to get one new user account to work (see below), but I cannot add any new users.
The server is Ubuntu 9.10 running Samba 3.4.0.
I am using:

PDC migration: printing trouble.
Hi all,
we've been moving an old Samba 2.2.x PDC install to a Samba 3.0.28 PDC
install. We copied the ntdrivers.tdb and ntprinters.tdb from to old to the new
server. After the migration, everything was just fine, except printing seemed
to be somewhat slower. As more and more user logged on, the machine got really
sluggish and printing took quite long. We figured out we've got bitten

howto sync unix passwd & samba passwd?
Hi,
I'm using samba-3.0.28-0.fc8. I'm trying to build a file server for 100
users. I created a perl script that automatically adds the 100 users plus
their passwords with success. Now I'm having difficulty creating a script
using the smbpasswd command because passwords must be entered in stdin. I
also tried smbpasswd -s option but it asks passwd in stdin. Is there a way
that I can use

New unexpected behaviour when joining a domain
Good morning,
I'm running Samba 3.6.5 on a Fedora 16 box, where I configured Samba to act as a PDC. A few weeks ago everything went smoothly; I then had to change the -physical- box running linux + samba, and everything went weird since then.
First, I'm using the same smb.conf file from the previous box. The OS hasn't changed, Samba packages might have been updated, but since I

Samba as NT Domain Member via Winbind - After Upgrade users prompted for password for any shares
Hello,
Apparently, I did a stupid thing today. I used apt-get on my
Debian Woody system to upgrade my Samba packages from 3.0.2 to 3.0.6.
Since doing so, all my users are prompted for a password when trying to
access shares. Even just listing the IPC$, Windows XP systems prompt for
user name and password. Windows 98 machines prompt for password. None
are successful. I believe

Samba upgrade on dedrat linux
I'm running samba 2.2.5 on a redhat 9.0 server. I'm planning on upgrading
it to 2.2.8a tomorrow.
My questions are thus:
1) I has hassles before when doing this on another redhat box because samba
was installed with redhat's own rpm's which install in different locations.
Would it be OK to do rpm --erase for all the redhat packages (samba, common,
