I am trying to set up an automatic connection between CentOS 4 system
(server) and a CentOS 5 DomU VM (client) via ssh to enable my to back up
development files on the server to the client with a cron process.
I generate they key pair without a pass phrase on the client and copy

SERIOUSLY OT STREAM EDITING IMAGES
Hi All,
I have been Googling my head off but cannot find a method to stream edit
all the images in a directory and to resize them. I have a large number
of images of up to 3GB in size that I want to put in albums on a
website, but before I do this I need to resize them to a more realistic
configuration.
I know how to do this manually with the GIMP but it becomes tedious for
more than a few

nVdia C15G chipset and GeForce 6100 on board graphix controller
Hi,
Apologies for the long post - but I'm being driven crazy by this problem.
A while ago I built a new server that is intended to serve as a Xen
server running multiple DomU systems used a test environments for
systems that I am working on. The host Xen system will be CentOS 5 as
will some of the DomU systems. The systems will all be hardware virtualized.
The motherboard uses the nVidia

OT Open Cobol
Hi,
Has anyone on this list had any success with installing and using Open
Cobol on RH or CentOS?
Any pointers would be very welcome.
I have Googled and am working with Vince on the Open Cobol mailing list
to try to resolve installation problems.

so-called snprintf() in db-1.85.4
Hi,
There is a severe problem with the db-1.85.4 library''s Linux
port that can be found on sunsite.unc.edu under
/pub/Linux/libs/db-1.85.4-src.tar.gz (sp?): This library
contains a "snprintf" function which breaks down to a common
sprintf, ignoring the size parameter. Obviously, this was
thought to be a terribly bad work-around for C libraries which
don''t contain an

RESTORING THUNDERBIRD FILES
Hi All,
Last night I downloaded the latest security updates to my Centos 4
system, and rebooted afterwards.
This morning I wanted to check my mail, but when I opened Thunderbird,
it asked me to set up a mail account.
I saved the contents of the previous .thunderbird file structure with
tar and created a new mail account with the same details (name, isp,
pasword, servers etc.) as the

Will upgrade from from db4 to libdb break anything?
Hello,
I just have a minor question. (Using Fedora 16)
My current dovecot (2.2.10) was compiled with db4 (4.8.30).
I am thinking of recompiling same dovecot (2.2.10) with
libdb (5.2.36).
I will be trying on live server so just wanted to know if
this will this break any indexing or anything else?
(Recompiling for Heartbleed, so might as well switch db version)

Adding Berkeley DB to Asterisk 1.8 and above
All;
I'm working on a project (using Asterisk 1.8, but 11 would probably work
just as well) where so far I've been able to originate over 1,000 concurrent
outbound faxes. I have no problem with that so far. Where I have the problem
is that Asterisk is dumping core after the faxes are sent. Now two things
happen after the faxes are sent. (1) A fax log similar to a CDR is written

Linking against a specific Berkeley DB install
I sent this question to the OpenLDAP list yesterday, but I still haven't
seen the message come across the list. I am asking here in the hopes of
getting a faster response.
I am trying to compile OpenLDAP 2.3.11 from source on CentOS4. I have the
rpm for db4-4.2.52-7.1 installed and also a source build of BerkeleyDB in
/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.4.
How do I get OpenLDAP to link with the bdb

LIMITING NUMBER OF KERNEL VERSIONS RETAINED
Hi
Some time ago there was a discussion on the above subject. I have
scanned the past few month's mailing list archives and cannot find the
relevant mail(s).
Could somebody please repost the solution or point me at the correct
resource.
I would also appreciate advice on how to do this on a RHEL4 server being
updated with up2date.
Is it safe just to delete the old kernel and initrd

ext3 performance issue with a Berkeley db application
Can someone suggest anything that will help with the following ext3
performance problem? (It's a Berkeley db issue at bottom, but the ext3
part is worth looking at, I think.)
First, two paragraphs of background: A Bayesian spam filter called
bogofilter uses Berkeley db to maintain two database files of identical
format: one containing words found in spam email and for each word the

Problems with writing Dual Layer DVD
Hi,
I am running Centos 4 (fully updated on this box).
I removed the old DVD writer (/dev/hdc) and installed a new LG GH20
"Internal Super Multi DVD Rewriter" with a SATA interface - this shows
up as /dev/scd0.
When I insert a pre-recorded DVD autorun mounts it and displays the
contents without any hassles. It appears to me that the required kernel
modules are loaded - as copied

linux-to-linux samba weird problem
I've a weird problem with Samba. I'm using Samba to share a filesystem between
two linux systems because I believe I need byte range locking to prevent
multiple processes on different computers from reading/writing the same ISAM
records.
I have a Debian wheezy file server running Samba; no domain controller, just a
simple, single share. I have a debian wheezy KVM mounting a share via

Firefox distorted printing
Hi,
I am running a fully updated CentOS 4 box. Since the last few rounds of
updates - upgrading to the latest Firefox, I find that I can not print
Bank statements etc ( .ps files when saved to disk). The Bank's logo and
any lines on the form print OK but the actual content is distorted
beyond recognition - printing a series of special characters

Unknown dict module: db with expire plugin
Hello.
I upgraded my dovecot to 1.1. I use the FreeBSD port.
However, I can't use the expire plugin. See the error:
Unknown dict module: db
expire plugin: dict_init() failed
I see on the mailing list another mail like this problem. And the
problem is the imap library is not linked to libdb.
Is there a solution?
Have I to contact the FreeBSD maintainer to link the binary to the
library?

Poor performance with openldap 2.3.x (Berkeley DB 4.3 or 4.4) on XEN 3.0.x
Dear all,
With or without /lib/tls librairies activated, A search in openldap is very slow on XEN 3.0.x . Cpus do nothing .
15000 entries are dumped in 2 minutes whereas same search without xen are dumped in 4 seconds (with far more activitie on CPUs)
I have already see one or mail about this problem . But I don''t see a solution , perhaps a threading problem between Berkeley DB and
