Inspecting VMware OVFs
Hi, Maybe this is just a newbie question. I am trying to inspect VMware images with guestfish. I am running Fedora 15 in a VSphere VM. Once Fedora is installed I do: yum update yum install '*guestf*' Then I run guesfish on a copy of a Fedora 15 disk. guestfish -rw -I -a Fedora15-2-disk1.vmdk with the following result: libguestfs: error: unexpected end of file

Xen (Dom0) and KVM simultaneously on same PC - is it possible?
Hello, Is it possible to run Xen (Dom0) and KVM on the same host PC? If yes, is it possible to run them simultaneously? The reason that I ask is because I presently use KVM but would like to try out Xen. However, I don''t want my KVM setup being messed up while playing with Xen. I''m using Fedora15 and the 3.0.0 kernel from mainline. Thank you in advance. --Vinu.

general protection errors
Hi, Some time ago I sent a message about some general protection errors, and didn't receive a response. I hoped I could post again and that someone might have some ideas. I really don't think it is a hardware problem producing these errors, but am otherwise out of ideas. I'm having a problem with a fedora15 x86_64 host with a fedora15 x86_64 guest on a Xeon E3-1240 with 8GB RAM on

Performance tuning questions for mail server
Hi, I have a fedora15 x86_64 host with one fedora15 guest running amavis+spamassassin+postfix and performance is horrible. The host is a quad-core E13240 with 16GB and 3 1TB Seagate ST31000524NS and all partitions are ext4. I've allocated 4 processors and 8GB of RAM to this guest. I really hoped someone could help me identify areas in which performance can be improved at both the guest and

general protection and other errors
Hi, I'm having a problem with a fedora15 x86_64 host with a fedora15 x86_64 guest on a Xeon E3-1240 with 8GB RAM on the guest. This is the only guest. The server is configured as a mail server, using spamassassin, postfix, amavisd, and clamav. It was previously running without error on different hardware. I migrated the disks to a more powerful server due to load. It's a new server, and

XCP GUI help needed
Hi, I am a newb to XCP and somewhat to Linux. I set up XCP on a test machine and used xe to configure a couple of VMs. The VMs are working fine but if I deploy XCP with only xe to manage machines, the others here will want my head on a plate. I set up a Fedora client on a different machine and installed Virtual Machine Manager. When trying to connect via SSH, I get an error that says

New Tutorial - RHCS + DRBD + KVM; 2-Node HA on EL6
Hi all, I'm happy to announce a new tutorial! https://alteeve.com/w/2-Node_Red_Hat_KVM_Cluster_Tutorial This tutorial walks a user through the entire process of building a 2-Node cluster for making KVM virtual machines highly available. It uses Red Hat Cluster services v3 and DRBD 8.3.12. It is written such that you can use entirely free or fully Red Hat supported environments.

F19 and virt-install
Hi libvirt: -------- My "short" question is - is there a recipe for installing F19 100% automatically with static IPs? I'm using a combination of url based install with a kickstart script pasted to a gist in order to bootstrap the entire thing. It **used** to work (fedora16), but recently stopped. ------- Note : Right now Im not using the os-variant switch because fedora17+

Anomaly in Xapian

Resizing ext4 fedora qemu guest
Hi, I have a fedora14 host with a fedora15 guest and I'm trying to resize the /home partition from 200GB to 240GB. I'm relatively new to the virsh/guestfish commands, as well as LVM, although I think I have a reasonable understanding. I have followed the virt-resize directions (http://libguestfs.org/virt-resize.1.html), but it still shows 200GB: # fdisk -l /dev/mapper/vg_custserv-lv_home

Getting started with sieve and conversion from procmail
Hi, I have a fedora15 system with dovecot-v2.0.15, dovecot-pigeonhole and and amavisd-new and would like to implement it on my system using postfix. I've read the basic wiki documentation, but I really can't figure out the proper starting point in my case. I've enabled "protocol lda" in 15-lda.conf and added "sieve" to the list of mail_plugins. I'm trying to

win7 instance just disappears
Hi, I have a fedora15 box with a win7 kvm instance that has been running for some time, but lately it seems to just crash and disappear without any idea of what happened. It's never happened while I have been using it, only when the instance is idle. I usually start the instance using virt-manager, but also start it just using "virsh start mykvm" then access it using the spicec

seeking a help on if function
Hello r helpers! Below is the whole coding for my programme. Before proceed more further, let me explain for you. First of all, I need to compute trimmed mean. Till that step is ok. Then I need to compute ssdw which is sum of square deviation. If I do equal trimming at both tail of distribution that I chose, I will use the first ssd formulae which is "a". But if I am doing unequal
