Can anyone suggest a SCSI 3 card in either PCI-X or PCI-E x 4 for a Dell Poweredge 2900?
The only PCI-X card I have is an old ICP Vortex RAID controller and
the Dell hangs with that installed (BIOS is disabled).
It's only for a tape drive so performance isn't really an issue.
thanks

Performance ext3/hardware raid
Hi!
Are these results i got from my benchmarking "normal" or is there
something strange happening in my system? This box is going to be a
mailserver, so i tested various fs to decide on which i should utilize.
I personally dislike reiserfs because it has proven somehow unreliable on
our servers (although it got better in the more recent kernels), ext3
would be quite good (fsck'ing

Asterisk and Mitel 3300 ICP
Good day everyone,
I have Asterisk and Mitel 3300 ICP communicating via SIP. Calls to and from
extensions on both sides are completing successfully (details on config
coming soon). Problem is that calls from Asterisk to PSTN via E1 on Mitel
3300 ICP are rejected. What do I need to do to get Asterisk to route PSTN
calls through it successfully?
Here is an extract of the log on Asterisk whenever I

PCI-X/PCIe RAID controller.
Afternoon,
I've got an old Dell PERC 4DC (PCI 64bit/33MHz) sitting in my home rig
and with a new board on the way that has PCI-X (133) and PCIe (x4)
slots, I was wondering what people would recommend for a cheap
hardware parallel SCSI RAID controller (no fake raid please) that is
relatively cheap but faster then the old PERC? I'm looking for
something cheap that'll do RAID-10 but

Information disclosure?
Hello,
For some reason, I thought little about the "clear" command today..
Let's say a privileged user (root) logs on, edit a sensitive file (e.g,
a file containing a password, running vipw, etc) .. then runs clear and
logout. Then anyone can press the scroll-lock command, scroll back up
and read the sensitive information.. Isn't "clear" ment to clear the

security level problem
I'm desperately trying to configure my Samba server under Linux. When I'm
in the security level = SHARE everything runs smoothly. But when I switch
to the security level = USER and I try to connect from my PC I get the
following Windows box: Resources MYSERVER\ICP$ asking me for the password.
Every password I'm trying is wrong.
The same applies when I'm trying to connect via

7.2 and iir stuck on boot.
Hi,
after upgrading to 7.2, booting the kernel gets stuck with:
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 300 seconds for xpt_config
from a 7.1 dmesg, it seems that it's in the iir driver.

Serial console hangs with Linux 2.6.20 HVM guest
I am seeing a problem with the Xen emulated serial console. When
running a Linux 2.6.20 HVM guest that has CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n, the
guest blocks on output to the console until it receives input keypresses
from `xm console`. This prevents the guest from booting up without
banging on some keys, and makes interactive use of the console
difficult.
By bisecting Linux kernel commits, I found that

project "Sphinx" kicked off
<with Prof. Farnsworth voice> "Good News, everyone".
I've just kicked off project "Sphinx". Which is supposed to
sound like "Speex" merged with "INT". ;) Meaning I am working
on an integer encoder and decoder.
It looks like I will be pulling in a new "integer plumbing"
into the foundation of the codec, comparing the results with
the old
