Gluster Self Heal
Hi,
I have a 2-node gluster with 3 TB storage.
1) I believe the "glusterfsd" is responsible for the self healing between the 2 nodes.
2) Due to some network error, the replication stopped for some reason but the application was accessing the data from node1. When I manually try to start "glusterfsd" service, its not starting.
Please advice on how I can maintain

Debian Squeeze packages available for Gluster 3.4.0-alpha2
I've made packages for Debian Squeeze for Gluster 3.4.0-alpha2,
they are available on
http://torbjorn-dev.trollweb.net/gluster-3.4.0alpha2-debs/.
They built and installed successfully, and have been running nicely
for a couple of hours,
but your mileage may vary.
The Debian packaging is on

GlusterFS performance
Hello!
I have GlusterFS installation with parameters:
- 4 servers, connected by 1Gbit/s network (760-800 Mbit/s by iperf)
- Distributed-replicated volume with 4 bricks and 2x4 redundancy formula.
- Replicated volume with 2 bricks and 2x2 formula.
I found some trouble: if I try to copy huge amount of files (94000 files,
3Gb size), this process takes terribly long time (from 20 to 40 minutes). I

Bug#290195: violations.d/sudo and violations.ignore.d/logcheck-sudo missing sudo log entries
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.2.32
Severity: normal
It seems when someone runs a sudo command on my system, logcheck misses
it.
The second line of /etc/logcheck/violations.d/sudo matches them, but
the /etc/logcheck/violations.ignore.d/logcheck-sudo kills them.
Furthermore, when users run commands like '$ sudo rm *' in a directory
with lots of files, we reports with lines like:

kerberos trying to obtain credentials for wrong machine
Hi,
I'm currently trying to configure Dovecot to use kerberos. My KDC is
Windows 2003 and I successful generated keytab file for Dovecot machine.
Problem is when I'm trying to use GSSAPI it told me
Obtaining credentials for imap at debian5 - and of course this fails
because debian5 isn't KDC, it should look for
imap/debian5.inblock.local at INBLOCK.LOCAL.
What I'm missing?

[3.3 beta3] When should the self-heal daemon be triggered?
Hi,
I eventually installed three Debian unstable machines, so I could
install the GlusterFS 3.3 beta3.
I have a question about the self-heal daemon.
I'm trying to get a volume which is replicated, with two bricks.
I started up the volume, wrote some data, then killed one machine, and
then wrote more data to a few folders from the client machine.
Then I restarted the second brick server.

Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working.
Hi:
I''m newbie to Xen. I''m using Suse as Dom0, and Debian5 as DomU. If no IP is
specified, VM starts OK. Else, it fails and shows the following error:
*Device* *0* (*vif*) *could* not be *connected*. *Hotplug* *scripts* not
working.
Googl''ing a lot bit I''ve seen this error is quite common, but I have found
no solution. Any ideas? If you need any other

1.0alpha4 uploaded to Debian unstable
I finally got some free time and uploaded 1.0alpha4. It will
arrive in the archive by tomorrow afternoon. Together with the
most recent libssl0.9.8 upgrade I think this will fix the SSL problems
users have been facing.

Ubuntu 14 Warning
This morning, 2 of us noticed that running contrib/scripts/install_prereq
on a fresh Ubuntu 14 system actually removed critical packages like
network-manager, openssh-server, perl, git, and a bunch of others. It
appears that the culprit is the libsnmp-dev package. It's default conflict
resolution solution is to uninstall conflicting packages and the alternate
solution is to correctly upgrade

EVP_PKEY_get1_EC_KEY:expecting a ec key
Hi,
since my last update from the Dovecot Prebuilt Binary for Debian I get a
lot of messages like this in mail.log:
dovecot: imap-login: Error: SSL: Stacked error: error:0608308E:digital
envelope routines:EVP_PKEY_get1_EC_KEY:expecting a ec key
Nevertheless Dovecot seems to work normally. Email client doesn't
mention any error.

centos 4.7 / kvm
Hello,
I'm trying to install centos-4.7 under kvm (for legacy reasons). I can't
get the beast installed, it crashes (see output below).
I'm using:
qemu 0.9.1
kvm-72
libvirt-0.4.6
kernel 2.6.26
What can I do in order to get the installation being done?
The host is a x86_64 machine (debian5).
BTW, the installation for centos-5.2 works like a charm with the above
configuration.
TIA
