Stuck in geli
Rarely, a geli partition I have freezes a process in bufwait state. It occurs after an ATA timeout message: Aug 5 03:47:13 thor kernel: ad10: TIMEOUT - WRITE_DMA retrying (1 retry left) LBA=219028637 The geli partition resides on an Intel MatrixRAID RAID1 mirror using the ICH9R chipset (Asus P5K-E/WIFI). Killing (even -9) the process does not work. Rebooting is the only solution, yet the

gmirror+gjournal: unable to boot after crash
Hi, after one month with gmirror and gjournal running on a 7.0-RELEASE #p2 amd64 (built from latest CVS source), the box hung a couple of times when on high disk load. Finally, while building some port it won't boot for no reason obvious to me. raidz pool metadata corrupted nexanta-core->freenas 0.7->nexanta-core
I made a bad judgment and now my raidz pool is corrupted. I have a raidz pool running on Opensolaris b85. I wanted to try out freenas 0.7 and tried to add my pool to freenas. After adding the zfs disk, vdev and pool. I decided to back out and went back to opensolaris. Now my raidz pool will not mount and got the following errors. Hope someone expert can help me recover from this error.

Workaround for RH #502499?
I have a workstation with a Gigbyte board and an Intel Corporation 82801EB (ICH5) SATA Controller (rev 02) that's apparently getting bitten by https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=502499 It's running CentOS 5.4 32 bit, and the user is suffering from high load and sluggish response whenever a disk write of more than a few MB is made. iostat shows the disk at 100%. raidz2 array FAULTED with only 1 drive down
I recently had a hard drive die on my 6 drive raidz2 array (4+2). Unfortunately, now that the dead drive didn''t register anymore, Linux decided to rearrange all of the drive names around such that zfs couldn''t figure out what drives went where. After much hair pulling, I gave up on Linux and went to OpenSolaris, but it wouldn''t recognize my SATA controller, so

Hello, Arne. I try to build storage server for my home (I have a LOT of media files) with FreeBSD 7, 5xHDD (WD 500Gb) and geom_raid5 ("simple" version from perforce, beacuse http://home.tiscali.de/cmdr_faako/geom_raid5.tbz is not patched for FreeBSD7). Array & FS were created with default arguments: # graid5 label storage ad6 ad8 ad10 ad12 ad14 # newfs -O2 -U /dev/raid5/storage

Cannot see disks attached to Marvell controller
I've got an Asus P5E3WSPro with 8 SATA ports and 8 disks attached. 6 disks are on one controller (and work perfectly) and 2 are on a second Marvell controller. FreeBSD sees the controller, but not the disks. If I move a working disk to the Marvell controller I can boot off it up to the stage of mounting root where it fails to see the disk. atacontrol shows: ATA channel 2: Master:

Can't get if_txp(4) to attach to a 3CR990B-TXM NIC
Good morning, I'm having a bit of an issue getting a 3CR990B-TXM NIC detected and usable. Just wondering if anyone knows of any issues with this NIC chipset and/or with the motherboard chipset. The motherboard is a Biostar GeForce 6100 AM2 using an nVidia nForce 410 chipset and nVidia GeForce 6100 vide chipset. I've tried FreeBSD 6.1, 6.2, 6-STABLE (from Wed), and 7-CURRENT (from

Panic in nfs/ffs after upgrade from 6.2 to 6.3-RELEASE
Hello, This file server was upgraded from 6.2-RELEASE-p$something to 6.3-RELEASE-p3 (current RELENG_6_3 sources via csup) on August, 11 and rebooted to the new kernel on August, 12. The school is closed due to holidays. The only load is mail delivery to Maildirs via NFS from another server (just 50 mailboxes or so, none of them very busy) and nightly backups. I went there on August, 13 to perform

High system in %system load .
Hello Got strange problem with high system "%system load" and very slow user level programs (apache+php+mysql) behavior gstat shows 1.5-4% hard disk busy load but system shows about 20-30% load while user load is max 5%. vmstat shows from 2 to 35 process in "b" state. Now use 7.0-RELEASE-p5 , but the same problem was with 7.0-RELEASE. And have no idea what to do with this.

unable to use gmirror on supermicro 5015b-mt
These are new boxes. http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5015/SYS-5015B-MT.cfm core 2 Q6600 CPU 8Gb 667 RAM Boxes were memtested from Fri-Mon okay. 6.3-RELEASE (amd64) installs fine. Build cycle okay. Running (no load) for a week or so. However, when I try to configure gmirror they hang on boot. After some fiddling it appears issuing #kldload geom_mirror hangs the boxes very hard.

Failure of gvinum after panic
Hi all, I have some problems with my gvinum setup after the system panic'ed. Afterwards the system fails finding the plexes to the subdisks (or at least that is what I can understand after having searched the gvinum source code for the error string in the DMESG log..) The machine is an IBM Netfinity 5000 and the internal HW self tests does not find any errors in the hw. Luckily my root is

AHCI and correct drive geometry?
Hey folks, So what's the word on AHCI and bios drive geometry? I'm having a real pain of a time trying to get some 750gb sata drives running on my FreeBSD7 box in AHCI mode. It doesn't seem to matter what disk geometry I suggest to sysinstall, something complains of an invalid disk upon booting it. Actually, in AHCI mode the bios screen doesn't report any information on
