Disable Kernel Screen Blanker
Hey Y'all,
I'm trying to turn off the kernel screen blanker that shuts off the
video after about 10 minutes of inactivity at the keyboard. After
extensive googling I've found two ways to *NOT* do it.
In my home .xinitrc
setterm -blank 0 -powersave off -powerdown 0
xset s off
In /etc/rc.local
/usr/bin/setterm -powersave off -blank 0
I've tried both to no effect.
Of course

PXELINUX and PowerSave Mode ...
We have a lot of diskless Linux clients which are booting via PXELINUX
or ETHERBOOT. The problem is that they are on for 24 hours and APM
PowerSave mode works for ETHERBOOT only. But in the future we want to
use PXELINUX only, which seems to have no features for APM or ACPI
PowerSave included. Would it be possible to integrate such features in
PXELINUX or is there a way to boot a special image

centos 7: trouble setting the ondemand governor
Hi,
The default "stop" action for the cpupower service seems to be to set
the ondemand governor, but this fails. I can reproduce the issue
directly by running cpupower:
$ sudo cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand
Setting cpu: 0
Error setting new values. Common errors:
- Do you have proper administration rights? (super-user?)
- Is the governor you requested available and modprobed?

power management / tuned following external power source
hi,
twice in the last week I've been caught out where the laptop was running
tuned with 'throughput-performance' profile on the work table, and I
walked away, carried on working - and had the battery run flat in just
over an hour.
Compare this with tuned running the 'powersave' profile - will usually
take the battery through to 3hrs+ - and if i just totally turn down the

[LLVMdev] doxygen build fails
Hi
I've tried to get doxygen documentation by configuring with
--enable-doxygen. Then 'make install' has been interrupted with
message "error: configuration file
/media/data/virtual/share/gsoc/build/docs/doxygen.cfg not found!".
mikem, why did you remove a line "AC_CONFIG_FILES([docs/doxygen.cfg])"
in autoconf/configure.ac [1] ?
I've restored this line. Now

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] Increase the coverage of Polly

Hi Vlad,
first of all it seems the conflict with raghesh was already solved. Nice.
Regarding your draft. It looks like a reasonable first version, but it
obviously needs to be extended for the final application. I would also
recommend to install Polly and try to find the first test cases that
cannot be handled.

ext3 and powersave
Hi,
This is probably a silly question, but, does ext3 allow ide drives to go
int powersave mode? Thinking of upgrading my home linux router to ext3,
but I'm wondering if it'll keep my drives awake all the time. I have ext3
running on several servers at work, and some of my workstations too. I
can't tell for certain if the drives on my workstations go into powersave
now that i've

Call Stealing
Hi All,
I'd appreciate some help on how to implement "call stealing". That is,
where you dial a code to redirect any call on the system to your
handset.
I'm getting rid of my BRI service and I'm trying to replace the
functionality of my existing ISDN2e PBX (Cybergear Gold) with VOIP and
Asterisk. On my ISDN PBX, the short-code *46 does this. For example,
if I take a call on

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] Increase the coverage of Polly
Hi.
I see that to detect scops firstly we search for regions in CFG ( by
RegionInfo ) and then select regions that answer some requirements (
in ScopDetection ). Because only affine expressions in conditions and
bounds are permissible, we trying to get scalar expressions into
affine form by AffineSCEVIterator. At present there plugs for scev
types Truncate, ZeroExtend, SignExtend, UDivExpr,

[LLVMdev] [GSoC] Increase the coverage of Polly
Hi.
My plan would be:
1w Study sources of Polly and LLVM docs relating to analysis.
2w Create tests which demonstrate problems with NSW/NUW
3-4w Fix the handling of wrap overflows.
5w Complete middle term paperwork.
6w Create tests for each of cases which are not currently optimized (e.g.
have min/max, sext/zext, trunc or unsigned comparisons in the loop bounds or
memory accesses).
7w Learn how

OT: hardware: sanitizing a dead SSD?
Probably too late for consideration at this point, but there are Enterprise
Class SSDs available with DoD/NSA certified/approved self encryption
capability. The concept is that encryption is a hardware feature of the
drive, when you want to dispose of it, you throw away the key. This allows
vendors to receive broken drives back from GOV/MIL clients securely so that
failure methods can be

I would like to control the timing of the automatic blanking of the

E-volved Cultures screensaver
Hello all.
The best screensaver of all time in my opinion is E-volved cultures, available here:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~notnot/E-volverLUMC/screensaver.html
Not only are the images it creates highly aesthetic, but they can seamlessly tile, so they are perfect for many applications. My current desktop was generated by this screensaver.
I've tried everything though and it won't show up. I

Xen 4.2.0 - CPU Frequency Scaling
Hi,
This has been a problem since the xen-acpi-processor code was added to
the kernel source. I wasn''t sure if the problem I was seeing was
related to the old version (4.1.2) of Xen that I was using but now I''m
on 4.2.0 and it still exists I thought I would check if I have a
misconfiguration or if I have discovered a problem. My system is a dual

Screensaver flashing instead of normal function
I rebooted my machine this morning and now instead of running normally, my
GLMatrix screen saver flashes as it repaints the screen, more and more
noticeably as the screen fills up with glyphs. I didn't change ANYTHING and
this was not happening before the boot.
Anyone have any ideas why this might be?
Thanks.
