exec and notify
Are exec resources triggered by notify events supposed to be run once for every event received or only run once per run irregardless of the number of resources that notified it? It seems to me that it gets run twice no matter how many resources triggered it. consider the following class: class dhcp { $prefix = "/usr/local/etc/dhcpd" $dhcpd_conf = "$prefix/dhcpd.conf"

Templates and Ruby
Hi, I am using a template to create an /etc/exports file. I have a template that looks like this (but results in the puppetmasterd dying on the server when the client updates): <% nfsHomeClients.split.each do |host| -%> /nfs <%= host %>(<%= mainshareoptions %>) <% nfspaths.each do |path| -%> <%= path %> <%= host %>(<%= nfsoptions %>) <% end

Puppet/webrick benchmark
We haven''t been able to use mongrel for testing yet, but in order not to waste time, we did some performance testing with 1, 2 and 4 puppetmasterd/webrick processes. Attached is an HTML page (ripped from our wiki - not pretty, but reasonably readable) which describes the method and results. If someone feels like making some nice graphs, that would be great. If not, I''ll try to

Puppet master can not find file_metadata for my puppet module
Hello, I am running a puppet master version 2.7.5 on Centos 5.7 and a puppet agent version 2.7.5. I am simply trying to apply changes to files by defining a file resource in my manifest. When I execute my puppet agent to do the installation it complains it can not find the file meta data. Here is my manifest. class neospeech::config { file { "/usr/vwmrcpd/vwmrcpd/vwmrcpd":

How to manage partitions and logical volumes with puppet?
Hi, As someone new to puppet I''m trying to work out the best way to manage different filesystems and logical volumes on different servers. Specifically I would like to be able to define on a series of nodes different LVM logical volumes to create and mount. I''m trying to do this at the moment with a define of the following type: # Manage a partition and create if needed.

crashes
I just started playing with puppet. Unfortunately, it keeps crashing in a variety of places. I don''t have much experience with Ruby yet, so any tips in tracking down these problems would be appreciated. I''m using the Debian package 0.18.4-1. Here''s the output of a couple runs: www01:/home/cwarden# puppetd --verbose --onetime info: Caching configuration at

Problem adding facts ...
I have created my first ''fact'', first attempt at Ruby too, and configured the fileserver to server it but when a Fedora (5 or 6) client sync''s puppetd appears to hang. CentOS clients sync and use the new fact fine. Find attached the fact file and the output from ''puppetd --debug --factsync'' on a FC5 client is below. This is a 0.20.1 client and

Yaml Segfaults on ubuntu puppetd client
While running puppetd on a linux client I get the following, the actual spot that the segfault happens varies, but it always happens. This is on ubuntu with the stock apt ruby1.8.4 package. Puppet also installed from apt. Puppet version 0.18.4 It seems very likely that this isnt a bug in puppet per se, but it is tickling a yaml bug (regardless of where it fails, it is always yaml). But I

Strange messages on 0.25.4.
Hi all. I am testing 0.25.4 to upgrade from 0.23.2. In testing, I found two strange messages on 0.25.4 which I have never found on 0.24.3. So could you tell me what these messages mean and how to fix them. [Environment] Puppetmasterd -version : 0.25.4 -OS : Solaris10 10/09 Puppetd -version : same as Puppetmasterd -OS : same as Puppetmasterd [Strange messages] 1.When Puppetd

err: Could not run Puppet configuration client: execution expired
I am new to using puppet and having trouble when updating an agent from a master which has a lot of files. Usually the updates work, but when there are a lot of files I get this error when running: sudo puppetd --test --server puppet.example.local --trace --debug >>> debug: Failed to load library ''rubygems'' for feature ''rubygems'' debug: Failed to load

conditional restart of service
I''m trying to have a exec dependency on a service object that would keep it from being restarted if the exec fails. Unfortunately, the service gets refreshed regardless whenever the exec is run, failure or not. I''ve tried various combinations of subscribe/require/notify, but can''t find an elegant way to not restart the service when the dependency fails. I must be

Using a single class multiple times
Hi- Recently starting using puppet while migrating an existing messy group of systems to some nice new hardware. Things are going incredibly well, and puppet''s functioning great. Have a bit of a headache. I''d like to keep myself from duplicating lots of included classes. Lets say I have this (snippet of a) class: class dbserver { file { "/etc/my_${db}.cnf":

Unable to launch puppetmasterd after installing mongrel
Moving to mongrel as our footprint has grown considerably. Configs worked fine before but for some reason we are unable to start puppet on the new host. I''m a new puppet user. I can''t puppetmasterd to start. I searched this group for the error message I get, but found nothing. Any ideas? Unable to replace a symlink with regular file
I am running Puppet 2.7.x (x varies from 14 to 20 on different machines). I am trying to use Puppet to deploy a new Zabbix agent configuration file. On all machines where the file wasn''t a symlink, the deployment worked. However, every machine where it is a link, Puppet refuses to replace teh link with a regular file or do anything with it. I''ve read the type reference, and

puppetrun fails: "Certificates were not trusted"
Hello all, I''ve tried to run ''puppetrun'', but there seems something unconfigured regarding the certificates. The reverse way (puppetd pulls the config from puppetmasterd) works fine. The namespaceauth.conf on the client (where puppetd runs) is configured as follows: [puppetrunner] allow *.abc.net (also tried the calling host: puppet1.abc.net) But when I call
