Inverse of FAQ 7.31.
Why does R think these numbers ***are*** equal?
In a somewhat bizarre set of circumstances I calculated
x0 <- 0.03580067
x1 <- 0.03474075
y0 <- 0.4918823
y1 <- 0.4474461
dx <- x1 - x0
dy <- y1 - y0
xx <- (x0 + x1)/2
yy <- (y0 + y1)/2
chk <- yy*dx - xx*dy + x0*dy - y0*dx
If you think about it ***very*** carefully ( :-) )

Recent inability to view long filenames stored with scp via samba mount
Greetings Samba team,
It has been a long time since I needed to ask a Samba technical question.
Server and workstation are both running the latest Samba packages via Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I recently applied the security updates... actually that was yesterday I applied them.

Preventing corruption if filesystem is modified between ''save'' and ''restore''
Is there currently a way of preventing filesystem corruption if the
following sequence of events occurs:
1. ''xm save domain domain.chk''
2. ''xm create domain''
3. ''xm shutdown domain''
4. ''xm restore domain.chk''
?
If not, I''m thinking of trying to implement into the windows gplpv

smbclient and large file support
smbclient (and smbtar) in version 2.2.7a (and prior) has problems with
large files (> 4GB). The following patch (against 2.2.7a) fixes all
known problems with this. This code has been checked into the CVS tree
in all branches as well.

sendmail and relaying
I think my sendmail is not correctly set. It says the default is to
disallow relaying.
I am running centos 4.8 and I think sendmail is relaying for anything.
Based on this:
http://www.sendmail.org/~ca/email/chk-89f.html#RELAYING
I added|:
FEATURE(relay_hosts_only)
to my sendmail.mc file and restarted sendmail. I am still seeing
connects that get relayed and are
not in my /etc/mail/access

The --inplace is very different from the behaviour of --partial when resuming a complex case transfer.
Hi all,
>From the manpage of rsync, I can see the following descriptions:
--inplace
The option implies --partial (since an interrupted transfer does
not delete the file)
So I do the following testings on the `--inplace' and `--partial' for
resuming a file with the following steps:
1- rsync ftp.cn.debian.org::debian/dists/wheezy/main/binary-amd64/

test failed with acl patch
In the mandriva rpm of rsync, we apply for our rpm the acl patch in the
patches directory.
I am trying to update our rpm to rsync 2.6.6 but one of the test failed with
this patch. It seems to be a minor problem, but can you have a look ?
Thanks by advance.

Draw a nomogram after glm
Hi all R users
I did a logistic regression with my binary variable Y (0/1) and 2
explanatory variables.
Now I try to draw my nomogram with predictive value. I visited the help of R
but I have problem to understand well the example. When I use glm fonction,
I have a problem, thus I use lrm. My code is:
modele<-lrm(Y~L+P,data=donnee)
fun<- function(x) plogis(x-modele$coef[1]+modele$coef[2])
