Samba4 reaches the "Susan" stage
Samba4 reached an important milestone tonight, as I installed it for my wife to use as her file server for all of her important documents, email, the book she is working on etc. Those of you who have been around Samba development for a while will know that my wife tends to be the first test user of major new versions of Samba, and she volunteered again this time. Susan played a large part in the

Norton IS preventing Samba workgroup from appearing in W2K browse
I know this isn't a samba configuration issue, but I'm hoping someone might have encountered this problem before and knows the solution. I just installed a Buffalo LinkStation (Linux Samba NAS) on my network and was atempting to set up a shared printer. I have three systems. All are W2K. One uses BlackICE, the others use Norton Internet Security 2004. All of the systems, including the

Does CentOS has problems with Norton Ghost 2003 images?
Hello all We have two very important workstations dedicated to tasks of development and investigation. At the moment we have installed a dual boot platform with CentOS 4.0 and Windows XP Proffessional SP2. In order to do backups of these machines we need to create an image with Norton Ghost 2003. We have worked with Ghost during several years with different platforms (Red Hat, White Box Linux,

openssh 3.7.1p2 fault on solaris 9 for sparc when built as 64-bit
I built OpenSSH as a 64-bit binary on Solaris 9, using gcc 3.3.2, OpenSSL 0.9.7c and zlib 1.2.1. sshd starts up normally, and will begin the login session, however, some time after it reads /etc/default/login, it faults and kills the connection. There are no error messages logged to syslog (with LogLevel set to DEBUG) or with the -ddd option. Here's a truss of the failure: 8132:

[OT] Bacula offsite replication
I realize this shouldn't happen, the file is a tgz and isn't being modified while being transmitted. This has happened maybe three times this year and unfortunately I've just had to deal with it rather than invest the time to do the research. FW: New issue, configuring 2 Vista nodes behind Norton Internet Security 2010 Firewalls
Finally resolved the problem, I'm actually impressed with the throughput over the tinc VPN! I encountered & resolved two problems during this installation. First, the config files need to go in different places, depending on whether you run tinc as a service or in the foreground from a Command Prompt running as Administrator (C:\Program Files\tinc\...) or if you are running tinc in the

updating the AUTHORS file
Hey everyone, I like to get the AUTHORS file updated before the next release. I suggest that we add the name and email of anyone who contributed some piece of code to compiz. For people who have contributed such a significant piece of code that it can be considered an algorithm or some functionality (e.g. Mirco's sky dome support in the cube plugin or S?ren's plane plugin), that should

[LLVMdev] DWARF unmangled subprog name (DW_AT_name)
That doesn't seem possible with the public API or am I mistaking? Shouldn't rxml files be exempt from layout by default?
RJS templates are the only template type that are exempt from layout by default. Don''t you think it makes sense to add rxml to the list of exempt extensions? I''d assume most people would be surprised to see their XML embedded in the middle of their (most probably) rhtml layout. http://dev.rubyonrails.org/svn/rails/trunk/actionpack/lib/ action_controller/base.rb:

[LLVMdev] DWARF unmangled subprog name (DW_AT_name)
The use case is getting the short name for backtraces. There are other options, but I figured it was worth a shot trying to access from the DWARF structure because what we need is already stored there anyway. 100GB incremental backups
We've recently migrated my entire University including faculty and staff from Novell to Samba. There's typically 700+ clients connected to the samba server at any given time and thus far there are about 400GB of client's files on the server. Basically every Microsoft Windows user generated file (Word, Excel, whatever) of the entire University gets stored on my Samba server. Obviously

wonder shaper and ''unmetered ip addresses/ranges''
Hey, I was fiddling with wonder shaper and it works great, except in my situation I only have 1 real network interface and the other interface is a virtual interface ie eth0:0, and tc doesn''t seem to support that. I have 2 subnets, one of which goes to the router which then goes to the internet, and the other subnet which contains the rest of the computers which go through this server

Interaction Terms versus Interaction Effects in logistic regression
I would like to know more about the output from the terms option in predict(), especially for a glm. And especially when there is an interaction effect being considered. Here's why I ask. These articles were recently brought to my attention. They claim that just about everybody who has reported an interaction coefficient in a logit or probit glm has interpreted it incorrectly. Samba, SamFS and problems with large files (backup images)
Hello, we use Samba on a Solaris server with SamFS and a tape library for having access to the SamFS for Windows users. We used Norton Ghost to create backup images of our workstations and sent them via network to the Solaris server. Restoring these images often failed because of "corrupted" image files. We thought Norton Ghost might be the problem but another backup software,
