attempts a configuration run.

Service ensuring fails on some distro (gentoo) with some packages
Hi
I''m having the following problem and tried already several workarounds,
as well benp- tried to help me on irc.
I copied the ntp modul from DavidS repo and adapted it in the Service
part to run as well under openbsd. Which was just adding some binary if
openbsd is the operatingsystem.
However then I wanted to run it as well on a gentoo system (on centos,

Error on first run
I install puppet as part of a Fedora and CentOS kickstart install and
this use to provide a nicely configured client immediately after the
first reboot from the kickstart completion. However with 0.22.3 i now
see the following error on puppets 1st run, as a result the client is
not configured.
The problem is easily rectified by connecting to each client and
restarting puppet.

Puppetting the puppetmaster problems
Hi,
installing puppet at my first site was quite easy (not w/o problems,
but still). At the second site, I''ve run into something more serious.
First things first - I install puppetmaster on existing server, used
to keep LDAP db (my puppetmaster DOES NOT use LDAP, it just tries to
coexist on the same machine). The thing is, I need to puppet this
baby, so I''m running into a

question about 0.24.0
I see in the changelog that:
You now must specify an environment and you are required to specify
the valid environments for your site. (#911)
Does this mean that the puppetmaster has to be updated before clients
work correctly?
I ask because I''m testing out a client upgrade to 0.24.0 (server is
still 0.23.2) and this is what I''m seeing:

Anyone know what this is? It doesn''t seem related to puppet but I''m stumped.

Getting undefined method `-' for #<XMLRPC::DateTime:0xb7c729e8>
Hello, all.
I am getting the following error on a couple of my puppet nodes when I
run puppetd -v -o --no-daemonize --no-splay:
err: Could not retrieve catalog: undefined method `-'' for
#<XMLRPC::DateTime:0xb7c729e8>
The error goes away if I add --ignorecache, but I''m not sure that''s
quite the fix I''m hoping for. It will also go away if i remove my

Hello,
I just installed the latest version of puppet and puppetmaster on an
up to date RHEL4 system. If I turn on ''storeconfigs'' on the
puppetmaster server I get the following error:

Results from testing our manifests, functions and types against HEAD
Hi Luke and other people working on 0.24. I hope this is constructive.
So, I have our configuration working against a checkout from git as of
last night.
Subject to (sorry, here''s the big but :)

signing certs
I noticed a behaviour which is kind of confusing. I have the puppetmasterd
running. Now I want a new client to connect. I edit the site.pp and add
the client. When the client is started I can see it with puppetca --list.
So I sign the client. When it next tries to connect it shows:

retrieving module directory
Hi everyone,
I have a puppet master/client infrastructure setup with apache. When on the
same datacenter I don''t have any problem.
I am trying to use another datacenter, so I setup the fileserver.conf as
followed:
# Files in the /path/to/files directory will be served
# at puppet:///mount_point/.
[modules]
allow *.datacenter1
allow *.datacenter2

trouble with passenger and 0.25.0beta2
Hi,
I''m currently trying to get my puppetmaster work in passenger, but have not
succeeded so far.
Passenger itself seems to work (a small "hello world" app runs fine), but
when I point a puppet client (0.24.8) to it, I get:

error "Stack level too deep" on ''exec[ "perl Makefile.PL" ] ?
Hi,
I''m testing puppet from the subversion trunk. I have a rather
hacked-together system to install a CRM into one of my nodes, which
worked (more or less) with version 0.19.3. When I tried to do a puppet
run on a completely clean node it seemed to stall on the ''compilation''
part (I do an exec of ''perl Makefile.PL'' in the appropriate dir). When

Please test export/collect from svn
For those of you out there using export/collect (which we really need
to come up with a better name for...), can you test the current SVN
code?
I''m mostly wondering if the performance is any better. To use it,
you''ll have to remove your current database, since the database
schema is significantly changed.
I''m getting what looks like an additional 25% reduction

File corruption while serving
Can anyone who''s having this problem please send details? I''m trying
to reproduce it -- I''ve got 5 clients concurrently retrieving 200 10k
files made of random binary, and I can''t get any corruption or memory
growth at all.
Is everyone experiencing the problem using Mongrel? Webrick? What
versions of ruby? Are only big files affected? Small files?

Puppet/webrick benchmark
We haven''t been able to use mongrel for testing yet, but in order not to
waste time, we did some performance testing with 1, 2 and 4
puppetmasterd/webrick processes.
Attached is an HTML page (ripped from our wiki - not pretty, but
reasonably readable) which describes the method and results.
If someone feels like making some nice graphs, that would be great. If
not, I''ll try to

error running puppetrun
Hi,
I have been getting the below error for sometime now. Both master and
client are using version 0.24.8.
Output from /var/log/messages
err: Could not call puppetmaster.getconfig: #<#<Class:0xb7b50a9c>:
execution expired>
err: Could not retrieve catalog: execution expired
P.S- all of this was working absolutely fine and suddenly has started
to misbehave.
Regards,
