Testing Xen on Lenny
Hello, I've been asked to test this, can anyone help me?
The platform I would like to test on:
- Lenny/amd64
- Intel VT-i (Xen HVM support)
I've looked over the various threads and wiki pages on the issue and I
thought I would try to summarise it more concisely:
dom0 (32 bit):
- regular install using Lenny CD, Debian Installer, i386
- install the kernel package from etch,

New Feature Request
Hi puppet masters,
while working on my site I came across a requirement that might be
helpful for others as well....
With the aim of confining human errors as much as possible, I
thought that it would be nice to have yum repositories disabled so that
specific repositories could be enabled for certain packages.
This is easily implementable via command-line, but I found that the

Component/type defaults for 0.22.x
Has the component/type defaults syntax changed for 0.22.x?
I have a component:

$backup=false, $recurse=false, $groupname="default") {
file {
$name:
mode => $mode,

puppet 0.20.0: updated language syntax doesn''t work?
Hi,
I just upgraded to puppet 0.20.0 today after a short time playing with
0.19.3. The docs say to use the uppercase form for types but that
seems to break for me. When I updated the remotefile function to use
the new way, the puppet clients complain about objects not being
found. For example:
----- OLD WAY (works, just with deprecations) -----
define remotefile (...) {

rollbacks
Has anyone done rollbacks with puppet?
The story goes that last night I pushed a change out, which
intentionally changed the way certain services where managed. The
change involved pushing out a few files, cronjobs, etc., which was okay
until it was discovered there was a bug with the service.
My configurations are kept in subversion and rolling back to a previous
configuration would have

Creating client certificates
I testing Puppet 0.19.3. If we decide to use it, we''d deploy it
across several thousand hosts. The method described for creating
client certificates described in the documentation - running
"puppetd --server <server> --waitforcert 60 --test" and "puppetca
--sign <client>" - is not practical for our installation. I''ve
tried creating

How do I use "mount"?
Ok, so I''m obviously doing something wrong here. This is running
puppet 0.22.2 on a centos 4 update 4 box.
When I try running this test -
mount { bigdisk:
ensure => mounted,
device => ''bigserver:/bigdisk'',
fstype => nfs,
name => ''/bigdisk'',
dump => "0",
pass => "0",

[LLVMdev] error api for APInt / APFloat
I'm breaking this out from LLVM asserts thread. Here are all the
assertions in APInt I consider should be recoverable:
APInt::APInt:
bitwidth too small
Null pointer detected!
APInt::getBitsNeeded:
Invalid string length
string is only a minus!
Invalid radix
APInt::fromString:
Radix should be 2, 8, 10, or 16!
Invalid string length

Insufficient bit width

Facter environment variables being ignored in puppet?
Facter has the feature that it will turn any environment variable
named FACTER_* into a fact. I can do this on the commandline
no problem, but when I attempt this in puppet it seems to ignore
that parts.
Is anyone else seeing this? (Is this expected behavior?) I don''t
see a ticket or a mail thread on it - though my searching powers
have been weak the last couple of weeks...
Thanks,

subversion and /etc/puppet
I''m trying to come up with a way to manage /etc/puppet on the Puppet
server from my workstation. My idea was to place all of /etc/puppet
into subversion, check it out to my workstation, commit via ssh, and
then use a post-commit to update /etc/puppet. That way any time I
made a change in /etc/puppet it would be immediately updated and ready
for the next puppetd run. Problem is the

SIP Blacklisting
Hi,
Given the recent increase in SIP brute force attacks, I've had a little idea.
The standard scripts that block after X attempts work well to prevent you actually being compromised, but once you've been 'found' then the attempts seem to keep coming for quite some time. Older versions of sipvicious don't appear to stop once you start sending un-reachables (or straight

Hi Eric,
As we discussed on IRC, I don't think there is any reason for the
implementation of these methods to check these

reading of a matrix
Dear R-experts,
I still have problems with the reading of a matrix.
Input: matrixData6.txt
A-Paar B-Paar C-Paar D-Paar E-Paar
A 1 3 5 7 9
B 2 4 6 8 10
R-commands:
y=read.table(file="Z:/Software/R-Programme/matrixData6.txt")
y
Result:
A.Paar B.Paar C.Paar D.Paar E.Paar
A 1 3 5 7 9
B 2 4 6 8 10
If you look into the txt-file

Where to get 3.0_3.0.2+hg9646-1 ?
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-xen-devel/2006-April/000462.html
The above url hows 3.0_3.0.2+hg9646-1 being accepted, but
http://pkg-xen.alioth.debian.org/ shows 3.0_3.0.2+hg9611-1 as the
latest .deb, and
https://alioth.debian.org/project/showfiles.php?group_id=30894 shows
3.0.2+hg9629 patches.
