Sth like this: subset(input, field1=="blah1" & field2=="blah2") # but now with substring match in field2 subset(input, field1=="blah1" & field3 *substringmatch* "blah3") I've tried with gsub, but it won't work: subset(input, field1=="blah1" &

dry-run?
Greetings. Long story short ... configuration changes were made to my puppet clients while my puppet server was unavailable. I would like to run puppetd in such a way that it will list what files it would replace, but not actually replace them, so that I can synchronize my server with my various clients. rsync has a -n (--dry-run) option that does this. But I can''t find one in

Updated the xml code to be more object-oriented
I changed the code to be more prototype-esque, and created a class called XMLDoc. I may add more functionality to it later, hence the more generic name, but you do something like this to convert XML to a hash: XMLDoc = Class.create(); Object.extend(XMLDoc.prototype, { initialize: function (xmlDoc) { this.element = xmlDoc; }, asHash: function () { if (! this._xmlHash) {

RFC: Changing variable override
It seems like a very common expectation that the following code would work: class boo { $me = "/something" file { $me: ensure => present } } class yay inherits boo { $me = "/something/else" } Yet, as many have found to their chagrin, it does not work. Should it? I believe I know how I could make this work: Create a single variable namespace for class

Mount and fstab problems with large devices?
I''m trying to get a new file server managed by puppet from day 1, at least as much as possible. At the moment, though, there''s two issues I''m running into: 1. fstab should have entries for my comically-large RAID, but doesn''t. 2. each puppet run appears to remount the RAID, even when no rules in the manifest change. I suspect the issue may be in parsing

Method of specifying tags in the puppetd.conf
Hi, From looking at the puppetd --help, there is not currently (at 0.22.4) a method of specifying tags in the puppetd.conf. I was hoping to use this for the following reason: Currently, I use ''noop = true'' in my puppetd.conf, and run ''puppetd --no-noop {tags}'' to install the configurations that I am happy with. This is because I''m currently

Photoshop "Disk Full" error, a linux filesystem NOT Samba issue
Hi all. Thought you would all be interested to know that i, like many others, am experiencing issues with Samba and Photoshop 7.0. The problem is specific to Photoshop 7.0 when saving files to a Samba share via a W2k/XP OS. Users experience a disk full error when saving from Photoshop but have no issues copying/moving etc files to/from the share outside of PS. Well, after some testing, the

disk space issues...any help is greatly appreciated
Hi all, Please pardon my newbie-ness on this issue....I've a / partition which is full (quite suddenly, actually) and I'm not sure how to fix this. I've searched for uneeded logs, etc in /var/log and /tmp to no avail. The system is CentOS 5.2 and is not connected to the internet, serves as a local LAN server running stock stuff...sendmail, dovecot, apache..nothing strange or

disk partitioning - I'm missing something simple, I think
Hi all, Excuse the question as I'm sure those more experienced will find it simple. I've a CentOS5.1 box with six physical drives, two of which are used for nightly rsync backups. Contents of /etc/mtab, /etc/fstab, df and a brief narrative follow: ====================================================== # cat ./fstab /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults
