trac problems: tracd is dead
Well, tracd suddenly decided to stop serving requests today. As a
result, we''ve re-enabled trac under mod_python, which unfortunately
means you can expect more stack traces. We''ll continue working on
resurrecting tracd, but please bear with us until we get it fixed.

Trac in mod_python
I''ve set the Trac sites up to use mod_python now (as I should have in
the first place), so you can now get all trac sites at https://
reductivelabs.com/trac/$name, where $name is the project name, e.g.,
puppet. It should be a good bit faster now.
The old locations will work indefinitely, but I''ve changed all (I
hope) of the links to point to this new location.

Quote me on that [puppet best practice]
Another point of disparity between how I see others write Puppet manifests
and the Best Practice that I''ve adopted at my institution is the use of
quoting.
In Puppet, you can get away with not quoting values or references if there
isn''t a special character or a keyword being used (e.g. package { openssh:
...} or User[agirl]).
However, even though that is possible, to make

Hello,
Is it possible to specify which of the OpenSSL ciphers to utilize during client/server communication?
Thank you,

puppet 0.20.0: updated language syntax doesn''t work?
Hi,
I just upgraded to puppet 0.20.0 today after a short time playing with
0.19.3. The docs say to use the uppercase form for types but that
seems to break for me. When I updated the remotefile function to use
the new way, the puppet clients complain about objects not being
found. For example:
----- OLD WAY (works, just with deprecations) -----
define remotefile (...) {

Please help: Test documentation in Trac
Hi all,
Peter Abrahamsen has been working assiduously to get all of the
Puppet documentation into Trac''s wiki. He''s now complete, and I
would appreciate it if people could click around the wiki a bit and
see if everything looks okay. The docs start here:

I''m also working on switching to using

Tracd and tracebacks
The problems with trac giving tracebacks and bailing on a large
percentage of page loads should be fixed, now.
We''re using tracd now, which may have some other issues, but it looks
like it''s an improvement in most ways.
If you''re having trouble with the website, or, specifically, trac, go
ahead and drop me an e-mail.

Web Site Trak errors and Python tracebacks
I''m getting quite a lot of errors when viewing pages on the Wiki. I
thought it was bad links but the page will usually be served after a few
reloads. It''s not a big deal, I just thought I should tell someone.
Here is an example traceback from
https://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/Modules, a reload actually gave
me a nice looking "Page not found" but I get the

I seem to be getting the following error from the wiki, in both

Even the "Simplest Puppet Install Recipe" apparently isn't simple enough
I''ve tried this over and over, and I just cannot get it to work.
I''m trying to do a proof of concept on puppet, so I''m using two CentOS
5.3 systems running in VMs on separate hardware (i.e. the two VMs are
not on the same physical box). I''ve built the systems from scratch
numerous times, and then pulled down puppet from the rpmforge repo.

Issues with Puppet on FreeBSD / Creating a Recipe
Hi,
I am running an environment with 15 FreeBSD servers on which I want to
maintain ports, rc.conf settings, and assorted configuration in
/usr/local/etc/. Looked around the existing Puppet docs, I got a
puppetmaster and a test client to work and install a package as
specified in the site manifest. This is very basic but awesome!
I want to create a puppet FreeBSD HowTo that addresses a
