tracking this thing down -- and it''s why you''re still getting the problem after we''ve known about it for so long. If you''ve got good C programming skills and have the time to hunt this down, I''ve got some thoughts on ways you could go about trying to find the root cause of the bug, but let me warn you that the Ruby source code is... interesting, and

/etc/passwd
I would like to write up brief tutorial/documentation on how to manage /etc/passwd using puppet. While this may seem pretty straight forward to some...the documentation is not. We have been able to create a manifest that defines all of our users "virtually" and are able to "realize" users and add them to the system(s) running puppetd. Is there a way to simply realize all users

size of template file
Hi, How big a template file can be? When I tested with a kind of large file (about 23KB, 570 lines), puppetmasterd ended up with a segmentation fault. Then I made the file shorter than original (about 6KB, 145 lines), the file was created but it is shorter than it should be. What I have is just 3994 bytes and 80 lines. Replacing the string is done correctly. I would like to know the limit of

One-way change
I''m developing an app, and I want to make a single boolean field OK to change from 0 to 1, but not allow 1 to 0. Seems like the model''s validate method would be the right place for this, but I''m not sure how to implement it. Any suggestions (actual or pointers to) are greatly appreciated. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Yaml Segfaults on ubuntu puppetd client
While running puppetd on a linux client I get the following, the actual spot that the segfault happens varies, but it always happens. This is on ubuntu with the stock apt ruby1.8.4 package. Puppet also installed from apt. Puppet version 0.18.4 It seems very likely that this isnt a bug in puppet per se, but it is tickling a yaml bug (regardless of where it fails, it is always yaml). But I

Xen 3.1 in unstable?
Hi, I just happen to see that there are no Xen 3.1 packages in unstable as of yet - even if 3.1 is released since a while now. There are the Packages in Ralph's apt repository, but I wonder why there are no newer packages yet. This shouldn't be criticism, but two questions come up: 1) Is the reason that there are no newer packages that you need some more help? Then I might be able to

combining two models in one controller/view "set"
I''m going to take another stab at this question (my first one received no replies): I have two models: Author has_many: books Book has_one: author I have two tables: authors id ... books id author_id ... I let the scaffolding fly and it created the CRUD goodness for each model, as expected. However, I want to have only one view/controller "set" for both models; when I

creating fixtures for has_many :through
I''m stymied at how to create a fixture that establishes a has_many :through relationship. I''ve watched the railscast at: http://media.railscasts.com/videos/081_fixtures_in_rails_2.mov ... but that''s for HABTM relationships. I''ve read: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/145676 but that ultimately doesn''t answer any question. So with no further ado:

Problems w. chan_capi + ztdummy
Hi Everybody I've got a weird problem. I am running one Asterisk system on a dual processor box. This box mostly do VoIP only but it has a Fritz PCI ISDN card installed with latest drivers. Dialing out through the ISDN cards from an internal Snom phone works fine and so does dialing in. Except - if I load the ztdummy module (for IAX channels) the capi drivers starts acting up. It is hard

OH323 doesnt hear ringing
I have Asterisk running with a combination of SIP and H323 clients. I am using the OH323 module instead of the H323 one. When the SIP clients ring each other, they can hear a ringing noise in the ear peice to let them know that the other parties phone is ringing. However, when the H323 client rings a SIP client, there is no ringing sound at all, although as soon as the called party picks up the

Usernames with dots
Now that I have winbind working, life is good. However, I've hit upon a real kick in the pants. As you can see from my email address, we have a convention here of usernames being firstname.lastname. So, when I go to change the owner ship of a file: $ chown chris.palmer myfile Linux thinks I mean user chris, group palmer, and says "invalid group" (there is no palmer group,

Complex data structures in templates
Hi. I wonder if it is possible to use more complex data structures in templates than simple variables and arrays? I have been trying nested arrays, as well as nested arrays and hashes, but nothing seems to work (more specifically, nested arrays seem to be flattened into a single array). Having only simple variables and arrays is a little limiting. Something like the Perl-based Template Toolkit

G.729 Codec on Dialup
hi All, We are using Asterisk server with sip phones (SJPhone). On the local LAN, when we use the SJPhone as the SIP client, communication works fine with no disturbances and noices. But when it comes to dialup connection we harldy hear anything except a rough noice. We have included G.729 Codec (Annex B) with the Asterisk server, and we added the G.729 Codec to the SJPhone too. But it seems

escape regex code
hello, i wondered if it would not be interesting to have some filters function in puppet like filter_integer(), filter_prelregex, filter_text, filter_email or such so we can validate and make our defines a little more foolproof :) i particulary see filter_regex as usefull in quite a lot of exec that manipulates text files. What do you think about this ? -- Cordialement, Ghislain
