umass0 problems, with Sony USB Memory Stick
Hi,
I'm installing a laptop for a friend of mine, and while most things work, the
Sony memory stick does not.
With respect to the HEADS UP of August 7th, I've also re-enabled the 2 Sony
memory sticks quirks, in sys/cam/scsi/da_scsi.c.
The symptoms also apply to 4.8-RELEASE:
umass0: Sony USB Memory Stick Slot, rev 1.10/1.80, addr 2
...
umass0: CBI reset failed, TIMEOUT

NEC 1300A DVD-R writing
Hi,
so I just bought a NEC 1300A, primarily, because it allows me to write DVD+
and -RW. Using DVD-R discs (and currently no options to try other media, due
to shops being closed), I'm unable to write anything, using either the
dvd+rwtools port, or the dvdrtools.
I've exhausted all references to be found in google, which are in a language I
understand, so I'm hoping the list can

PHP dependencies
Hi,
recently there was an introduction of lang/php4/bsd.php.mk. It's quite nice to
have it all centralized, but the old behavior, depended on the apache library
being available, for packages like phpMyAdmin.
This worked quite nicely, if you use your own php installation and not the
ports version, installed at a different place.
Now however, there's a need for

dvd+rw-format -force problem
Hi,
I haven't felt the need to fully blank a DVD+RW for a while untill today. In
between the last time and now, I both did a cvsup of STABLE and the port of
sysutils/dvd+rw-tools was upgraded. Hence - I'm not sure which could be
contributed to the cause.
The problem is the following:
When issuing:
dvd+rw-format -force /dev/cd0c
it fails, with 'unable to unmount' error.

Formally speaking blanking is not appicable to DVD+RW.

ddd issue with 6.4-PRERELEASE #2 and udf/cd9660
When ever I try try to mount any burned CD/DVD media I get the error
below.
mount_cd9660 -v /dev/cd0 /mnt
using starting sector 0
mount_cd9660: /dev/cd0: Input/output error
Exit 1
Which in dmesg results in...
g_vfs_done():cd0[READ(offset=-2207623839744, length=2048)]error = 5
This is odd because if I unplug the USB CD drive and plug it into my
netbook running a old RELENG 7.0-STABLE it works.

Hardcoded krb reference in ports/postfix
Hi,
There's a hardcoded reference to /usr/lib/libkrb.a in Makefile.inc. Is there a
special reason, that there's no knob but a file check?
AFAIK - my /usr/lib/libkrb.a stems from the 4.2-RELEASE cd install I started
this comp with (it's dated Nov 2000) and thus hasn't been updated since and
any linkage with it, results in undefined des(3) references.
Since sysutils/libchk

Problems Compiling after upgrading via cvsup
I couldn't compile any thing after upgrading 4.6.2 to 4.8 via cvsup
I also updated ports via cvsup
And nothing would compile, nothing, just error after error
I cd /usr/ports did a -"make clean"- (which takes over an hour on my
machine)
Now all my compile problems have gone away
I think I will cd to /usr/ports after doing anything with cvsup or any
install, just in case
or am I

Mozilla port.
I have a very strange problem with Mozilla since I updated it to the
latest stable. The font used on the menus are rendered extermly badly
such as lots of white spaces between the letters, large blocky font.
The font option does not seem to change any of those fonts which makes
me think it maybe something to do with X11. However, none of the other
things I use have any font issues...
Any idea

-STABLE broken?
Hi. My bad, but I have not been tracking the -stable
list and I just updated -stable on a production
machine.
It seemed to work just wonderful, as normal, for about
10 minutes then it started to deny connections and
when you run commands, it would just hang. I have
done a reboot and fsck everything. It is up now but
things are still strange. Here's the output. I just
updated -stable at

disk image creation, step by step
Hi,
I am aware that it is impossible to netboot ISO files through
pxelinux/memdisk
and that there are multiple reasons for not even attempting it (like the
operating system which will try to access a physical optical drive
through its
own drivers anyway, BIOS issues etc.).
When people ask questions regarding ISO support in pxelinux/memdisk, they're
mostly told to convert the ISO into a

Suddenly the voice became karbage (like robot) using Asterisk
Dear Dany;
First of all, thanks for sharing us the knowledge as really I got tired from it.
I am using Fedora, actually I did not get to know how could the fedora cause the problem at memory level and hard disk level?
Also, how can I resolve it?
Regards
Bilal

app_voicemail2 became a bit silent, lately...
Hi,
after cvs upgrading my * installation yesterday, the prompts in both
VoiceMail2 and VoiceMailMain2 have become silent. All I get is the initial
"blip" followed by the Voice taking breath and being cut off before she
has a chance to say "Comedian Mail".
All other prompts (ie the Playback application) seem to work fine.
I can still login to VoiceMailMain2, however, each

Gothic became slow on keyboard input
Hi, i've a weird problem.
I'm playing gothic , installation works fine and the music too.
So, that's the problem:
When the character is motionless, and i look around with the mouse, the framerate increase a lot!
But when i look around with the keyboard, doing the same movements with the mouse, the framerate decrease a lot.
It seems there's something wrong with the keyboard

what became LLC -march=cpp?
Hi,
I came on an old post (2012 or 2013) where somebody used this tool with the
cpp arch option. I tried to use it too but it fails because no "cpp"
architecture was referenced.
Still on old posts I saw that it wasn't enabled by default for cmake builds
so I added the flag -DLLVM_TARGETS_TO_BUILD="cpp" and "all" but still
nothing.
Was it removed from LLVM?

What became of dovecot.passwd?
Since I've decided to go to version 2, which is a lot more difficult
to set up because I have to look in a lot more places than I did with
version 1.0.15, what do I do with the old dovecot/passwd or its
contents? I see no references to it in any of the stuff in conf.d or
doc/dovecot/wiki.
As always, thanks in advance.
