Hang on boot with 4.9-STABLE
Yet another hang on boot issue wqith 4.9. I havn't seen anything the same go through the list and I've searched the archives but not found anything appropriate. Box that has been rock solid under 4.8-P3, took it to 4.9-R and 4.9-STABLE (as of today) and it hangs on boot after the apm0 line. It's doing SMP and the motherboard has hyperthreading enabled. It won't break out to the

4.9-rc + usb + asus a7n8x == bad news
Hi! Just before we start, this is not the "USB hang on boot" problem. OK? This post got rather long, so I'll summaries it all in a sentence here: With FreeBSD 4.9-rc on an ASUS A7N8X with a cheapo memory stick, simply plugging it in and taking it out a couple of times is a guaranteed panic. I use only one USB device, a cheapo USB memory stick, which I recently bought on a

4.8 buildworld compilation problem: kdump
Hi, I have a 4.7-RELEASE system. I used the following cvsupfile to update my system: *default host=cvsup2.FreeBSD.org *default base=/usr *default prefix=/usr *default release=cvs *default tag=RELENG_4_8 *default delete use-rel-suffix src-all *default tag=. I then proceeded to do: cd /usr/src make buildworld I got a bunch of errors which occurred when building kdump:

FireWire Security issues
Hello, looking into the issue described in the advisory below I wonder how to tackle this issues. Primarily I ask myself * is there any reason not to filter all physical memory access by default * what would be the appropriate way to change the filter set? a sysctl? AC-97 problem between RELENG_4_8 and RELENG_4
Sorry if this is a known problem... I've been tracking RELENG_4 on my Toshiba laptop for a while now; a couple of months ago (not sure when) my sound stopped working. More specifically, when it gets to the pcm probe, the boot hangs. I dual-boot with WinXP and figured that somehow XP had hosed the hardware, so I wrote it off. Today, I made world with RELENG_4_8, and voila, my sound's

ieee1394 firewire disk unable to see or mount [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
We have some LaCie 1 TB external disks which work fine on other Linux servers (running Red Hat 9, and Ubuntu 7.04), but which fail to be seen on our CentOS 4.3 system with kernel 2.6.9-34.107.plus.c4smp The interface card is a Sunix 64 bit Firewire 800 ieee1394b adapter plugged into a PCI slot in our Linux server, which is a Tyan Thunder K8SD Pro S2882-D, 64 bit AMD Opteron

Ingress and polishing
Hi, We are using kernel 2.4.24, tcng version 10b. I''m trying to do some policing in the ingress queue of the internet device. Until now we had configured some filters dividing traffic into queues, and on these queues the Double Leaky bucket meter was applied. The idea is to have a minimum of bandwidth assigned per class (the cir values) and a maximum (pir values), just as with the

[SAGE] FreeBSD 4.4-REL to FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE upgrade problem.
Before reading below: I am considering a new install rather than an upgrade of our servers. However, now I just want to beat this problem. :) At 02:19 PM 7/8/2003 +0000, Phil Pennock wrote: >On 2003-07-08 at 14:09 +0000, Phil Pennock wrote: > > There was a fairly major update to the IDE disk device handlers which > > required new device nodes. [GSoC] Project Proposal: Parallel extensions for llvm analysis and transform framework
Hello, Below is a proposal for a GSoC project that I would like to work on this year. Your input and feedback is much appreciated. Background: ========= My name is Kareem Ergawy and I currently work as part of the PIR project. PIR is an extension of the IR to support fork-join parallelism that is currently under review [1, 2, 3, 4]. Goals: ===== As a GSoC project, here I propose an

HEADSUP: USB da(4) quirks disabled for 4.9 and 5.2
If you have any of the devices listed below, please test with a recent -stable or -current. They will stop working in 4.9 and 5.2 although old behavior can _temporarily_ be enabled by adding "options DA_OLD_QUIRKS" to your kernel config. If I don't hear from anyone, they'll be going away permanently after the releases. -Nate #ifdef DA_OLD_QUIRKS /* Below a list of

The IR-region annotation we proposed is as below, there is no @llvm.parallel.for.iterator()..... There is no change to loop CFG. alloc A[100]; %t = call token @llvm.region.entry()["parallel.for"()] for(i = 0; i < 100; i++) { a[i] = f(i); } @llvm.region.exit(%t)() ["end.parallel.for"()] Xinmin -----Original Message----- From: Johannes Doerfert

A quick update, we have been looking through all LLVM passes to identify the impact of "IR-region annotation", and interaction issues with the rest of LoopOpt and scalarOpt, e.g. interaction with vectorization when you have schedule(simd:guided: 64). What are the common properties for optimizer to know on IR-region annotations. We have our implementation working from O0, O1, O2 to O3.
