MAC problems
FreeBSD version: 5.1-RELEASE
Hi,
I'm quite new to FreeBSD. I've check list archives and
read a handbook, but I didn't find solution to my problem
and I hope this is not off-topic.
I've installed 5.1-RELEASE, enabled ACLs on the filesystems
and I wanted to test MAC features. I'm also new to MAC, so
perhaps this is some my mistake.
When I enable mac_biba or mac_lomac (in

redirect unauthorized users to a login page (natd as a transparent proxy)
Hello
I am trying to redirect all http traffic of unauthorized wifi users on a
wireless hotspot to a login page. The problem I have is that I can not
disable the regular address translation (I want the source address to stay
the same).
10.0.0.7 is the wifi client
195.250.155.29 is the web wifi user tries to access from his browser
195.113.17.94 is my login page
10.0.0.1 is the wifi

src/etc/rc.firewall simple ${fw_pass} tcp from any to any established
Hi security@ list,
In my self written, large ipfw rule set, I had something that passed
http to allow me to browse most but not all remote sites. For years
I assumed the few sites I had difficulty with were cases pppoed MTU
!= 1500, from not having installed tcpmssd on my 4.*-RELEASE, but
then running 6.1-RELEASE I realised that wasn't the problem.

quota warning by script fails
Hello!
I looked around all online resources I found, but I'm not able to find my
failure. So any help would be welcome!
The problem arises with an dovecot 2.2.6 on a 9.2 FreeBSD RELEASE in a
jailed environment. I have the following config settings regarding quota
(which works in general, but just without calling the script):
/etc/dovecot/conf.d/90-quota.conf:

Postfix + LMTP with virtual users: how to strip domain from LMTP RCPT TO
Hi,
I am trying to set up my own mail server (to get off Google) and I have a
problem with mail delivery. I'm using Postfix as a SMTP front-end, and use
the LMTP server included in dovecot to receive mail from postfix.
I have a setup which works with the dovecot LDA, it involves calling
dovecot-lda with the -d flag. Postfix computes the username by removing

Fwd: Fwd: HOW to enable traceroute with IPTABLES(SLOVED)
Hi all,
That issue is over now. I found why my ESTABLISHED,RELATED rule at the top
of INPUT chain did not work for udp and icmp.
The reason was I have included the protocol as tcp as below
iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j
ACCEPT
I removed -p tcp from above rule. Now it works for all protocols.
Thanks for your support.

Possible (or possibly painful) workaround for FreeBSD-SA-03:14.arp
Of course you should patch/upgrade, etc. A stopgap measure
could be to use static ARP for a segment. I have done this
for a long time with wireless hosts, since I'm in an urban
environment with many visible nodes, some in autos, and
ARP cache poisoning is a well-known DoS against wireless.
You may find it extremely painful and less-than-useful to
have static IP addrs, etc. for hosts.

Same certificate on multiple identical machines ?
Hi list,
In our platform we have a lot of machines in which the system is a
single disk image loaded on RAM from PXE.
The problem is quite simple : if I install puppetd on the image, I
will end up using the same certificate for 100 different servers with
different names (the hostname is setup at boot time from dhcp) and I
guess the puppetmaster won''t allow that.
In other words : what
