AC-97 problem between RELENG_4_8 and RELENG_4
Sorry if this is a known problem...
I've been tracking RELENG_4 on my Toshiba laptop for a while now; a
couple of months ago (not sure when) my sound stopped working. More
specifically, when it gets to the pcm probe, the boot hangs. I
dual-boot with WinXP and figured that somehow XP had hosed the
hardware, so I wrote it off.
Today, I made world with RELENG_4_8, and voila, my sound's

kmem_malloc crash with 4.8
Hi. I've recently borrowed a SuperMicro 6013P-8 from a vendor
for the purposes of testing it to see if FreeBSD and these machines will
make a good replacements for our current flock of 11 Netra T1s running
solaris. Things are going very well with the tests, with the glaring
exception of the following crash:

I'm having a 4.7Rp9 server which is since months quite unstable, so I've compiled a debug kernel and got a crash dump.
I'm a programmer and I know a little how to use gdb, I'm not so expert about FreeBSD kernel insides however, so I can't
get much from it. Any kind of help is appreciated.

R-beta: is there a way to get rid of loop?
Here is a programming question. The code I am using is quite slow and I
was wondering if there is a way to get rid of the for loop.
I am dealing with "interaction" in 2x2 table, and am using Edwards's G_I
(Likelihood, p. 194).
I label the cells in the table as follows

problem using do.call and substitute for predict.glm using poly()
Hi
I am having a particular problem with some glm models I am running. I
have been adapting code from Bill Venables 'Programmers niche' in RNews
Vol 2/2 to fit ca. 1000 glm models to a combination of species 0/1 data
(as Y) and related physicochemical data (X), to automate the process of
fitting this many models. I have successfully managed to fit all the
models and have stored the

OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3, several weird terminal problems
I compiled OpenSSH 3.6.1p1 on NCR MP-RAS v4.3 (or at least
"uname -a"'s output of 4.0.3.0 suggests v4.3, I'm not positive).
I was able to compile zlib (1.1.4) and openssl (0.9.7a) with little
trouble.
OpenSSH took hand-hacking the includes.h file as follows:
diff -cr openssh-3.6.1p1/includes.h openssh-3.6.1p1-customized/includes.h

No subject
We are looking for another solution besides Samba, which will allow our
application developers using Windows 95/98/NT to access share on our Sun Box
running Solaris 2.6 operating systems. Our supervisor feels the Samba
installation process is more complex than what we really need.
Any suggestions?

Everything is working fine (e.g. ftping, compiling, installing, etc.).
However, with the old version we are able to share a drive PUBLICLY for
those who doesn't have an account on our UNIX box and be able to use it on
NT/95/98 BUT with the new version it always asking for a password (

Create and Initialize List values
Dear all,
seasons greetings,
I had made a list of elements that I want to have
# list generator
Agent<-list(id=NA, position=list(x=NA,y=NA))
# Make list of Agents
AgentList<-rep(list(CRAgent),5)
# Initialization. Is it shorter to do that with a lapply statement?
for (i in c(1:length(CRAgentList))){
AgentList[[i]]$id=i
}
The created struct looks like
