Specify plot size
Hello, I have another (possibly easy) question: How to specify the size of a plot? When I draw a plot, I can freely change the size of the window, which is nice for single plots to find the best height/width ratio, but as I need a lot of plots in my work, I want to look them all the same, so I need to specify the size in advance. Thanks for help, Christoph

Problems Compiling after upgrading via cvsup
I couldn't compile any thing after upgrading 4.6.2 to 4.8 via cvsup I also updated ports via cvsup And nothing would compile, nothing, just error after error I cd /usr/ports did a -"make clean"- (which takes over an hour on my machine) Now all my compile problems have gone away I think I will cd to /usr/ports after doing anything with cvsup or any install, just in case or am I

Mozilla port.
I have a very strange problem with Mozilla since I updated it to the latest stable. The font used on the menus are rendered extermly badly such as lots of white spaces between the letters, large blocky font. The font option does not seem to change any of those fonts which makes me think it maybe something to do with X11. However, none of the other things I use have any font issues... Any idea

Hardcoded krb reference in ports/postfix
Hi, There's a hardcoded reference to /usr/lib/libkrb.a in Makefile.inc. Is there a special reason, that there's no knob but a file check? AFAIK - my /usr/lib/libkrb.a stems from the 4.2-RELEASE cd install I started this comp with (it's dated Nov 2000) and thus hasn't been updated since and any linkage with it, results in undefined des(3) references. Since sysutils/libchk

-STABLE broken?
Hi. My bad, but I have not been tracking the -stable list and I just updated -stable on a production machine. It seemed to work just wonderful, as normal, for about 10 minutes then it started to deny connections and when you run commands, it would just hang. I have done a reboot and fsck everything. It is up now but things are still strange. Here's the output. I just updated -stable at

NEC 1300A DVD-R writing
Hi, so I just bought a NEC 1300A, primarily, because it allows me to write DVD+ and -RW. Using DVD-R discs (and currently no options to try other media, due to shops being closed), I'm unable to write anything, using either the dvd+rwtools port, or the dvdrtools. I've exhausted all references to be found in google, which are in a language I understand, so I'm hoping the list can

cd0/1a device became invalid between Sep 2 and Oct 1
Hi, just noticed that I can't mount anything anymore on the cd[01]a devices anymore. The cd[01]c devices work correctly, as does the acd[01]a device. These are an ATAPI dvd writer (cd0) and a dvd player(cd1) trough cam(4). This applies to both dvd and cd media. Remaking the device through MAKEDEV has no influence. Nothing reported by dmesg. root@ghost ~ # mount_cd9660 /dev/cd1a /mnt

umass0 problems, with Sony USB Memory Stick
Hi, I'm installing a laptop for a friend of mine, and while most things work, the Sony memory stick does not. With respect to the HEADS UP of August 7th, I've also re-enabled the 2 Sony memory sticks quirks, in sys/cam/scsi/da_scsi.c. The symptoms also apply to 4.8-RELEASE: umass0: Sony USB Memory Stick Slot, rev 1.10/1.80, addr 2 ... umass0: CBI reset failed, TIMEOUT umass0: CBI

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
I must be doing something really stupid. I've read the docs for icecast2 and ices2. Icecast2 is running fine; I can get stats.xml and see that it is running. When I run ices2, I get the following error in ices.log: ... [2005-12-07 05:37:51] INFO playlist-basic/playlist_basic_get_next_filename Loading playlist from file "/home/john/playlist.txt" [2005-12-07 05:37:51] WARN

Michael and Karl, Thanks for your replies. Sorry for confusing you with bad test info. The contents of playlist.txtthat I referred to in my earlier email did not match the log result I specified. However, I had ran the test with both a full and relative path in playlist.txt; "/home/john/Visitors.ogg" and "Visitors.ogg". Got it working, however. Tried playing a different ogg

Too slow computer?
Hello! I''ve put some questions on this list some weeks ago and I''ve got good answers. Thank you! Now I''ve finished my (beautyful) script and I ran it on my router... About my script: It routes packages based on their destination on the Internet. I have about 1650 preffered destination networks listed in some file. The script read this file and marks every package for

win2ksp2 "cannot load profile" from a --with-ldapsam domain controller
Apologies if this is well hashed-over, but I searched pretty dilligently on the web and mailing list archive and couldn't find the answer. I even stumped my resident samba guru (hi Sean). Server is Red Hat 7.3. Tried with both the Red Hat 7.3 rpm just recompiled --with-ldapsam as well as the samba.org src.rpm also recompiled with --with-ldapsam. Things work for the most part, people are

Daylight saving time problem.
I have a small home LAN consisting of a Linux/SAMBA server and 3 XP PRO workstations. I use an external USB hard drive, attached to my workstation, to backup the shared data. The backup utility uses the DOS file timestamp to determine which files have changed and need to be backed up. Normally the backup takes a minute or less and only backs up a few files, but when we go on or off of daylight

performance?
I've looked on the 'net and found some references to poor performance but I haven't seen a solution. My environment: Linux: SuSE 9.2 Pro AMD64 Windows: Windows XP Pro (32-bit) on an Athlon64 Networking: everything connected with GoC. >From the Linux box, I want to basically back up some stuff from the Windows box. To do so, I use the following: smbclient //winbox/share

Kernel Error with Icecast
I currently have Icecast 2.3.1 running with Darkice on a Fedora Core 4 box (with the 2.6.14 kernel). We have three streams running (all mp3) @ 128kbs, 64kbs, and 24kbs. I am consistently seeing the following error: kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address ffffffff It does appear to be icecast causing the error. Oddly, when this first started showing up, it would

speaking of /tmp races
Sorry if this is so obvious as to not merit mentioning, but I just grep'd for /tmp/.*$$ in /bin/ and /usr/bin and found a number of lines which appeared to be people making up tmp files with /tmp/appname.$$ as the name. Maybe my redhat 5.1 box wasn't a great place to do that though -- anyone have a redhat 5.2 box (or debian-current, or whatever) that they can grep through their bin

Slow login/out with XP and SAMBA PDC?
I have a small home LAN with a SAMBA PDC and 3 XP workstations. When I log in or shutdown, it takes a few minutes to copy the user profile info. It was only happening on my system, but I recently showed my wife how to make her own CDs. She ripped about 20 CDs using ROXIO which stores the MP3's in the users profile. When she went to reboot it took about 5 minutes to save and restore the
