mount_smbfs and samba 2.2.0
I know 5.1 isn't considered part of -stable, but it doesn't really seem like -current either, so I'm asking here. If this is the wrong place please let me know where I should be.
At work I have a 5.1-R box that I'm trying to use to mount shares from a Sun box running samba 2.2.0 as well as some Win2K boxes. Both the sun and win2k machines authenticate to the company's domain

Mount smbfs
Hello,
I've got a FreeBSD 5.5 box running Samba 3.0.21 and every-time I try
to do a "mount -t smbfs -o username=username,password=password //
server/share /mnt/folder" I get the error "smbfs: -o username=:
option not supported".
I've google'd this with no luck... any help in the right direction is
appreciated.

samba-3.0.0 & FreeBSD 5.1 not cooperating
Greetings,
I think I may be having a slight configuration problem with Samba and
FreeBSD-5.1. I'm trying to use FreeBSD's mount_smbfs(8) to mount a
remote Samba share onto my local FreeBSD filesystem. With the
configuration below, I can read all (almost; explained below) files and
directories just fine. All permissions are correct. But whenever I try
to write to the share, the write fails

Connecting an iMac to os/2
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello,
I have an iMac v10.6. I'd like to get it to connect to an old os/2
server, v4.5 fp3.
Using smbutils on the iMac:
$ smbutil -v view //sma-server1.sma.com
smbutil: server connection failed: RPC struct is bad
Can anyone suggest what changes may be made that will correct this
error? Is it even possible?

I downloaded the binary from samba.org, and executed the command like so:
(The command belowis directly from the README.smb that comes with
tcpdump-3.4a5.tar.gz)
./tcpdump -i eth0 port 139 host 192.168.0.1
tcpdump: parse error
How do I use it to get the decoded smb output?

VFS objects and mount_smbfs on Mac?
Hi all,
Is that intended to work? I have a Mac client connected to a Samba share
on a linux server (samba 3.2.0). For debugging purposes I've set up a VFS

guest ok = yes

macosx (mount_smbfs ok - macosx GUI not working)
Hi there,
I have machine running:
Linux 2.2.20
Samba version 3.0.14a (debian package)
Check the end of the email for the samba config file
The samba machine is sharing a directory and it is validating users
through a windows 2k PDC.
Everything works if I use windows/linux clients, but when I try to
use a share directory from a macosx client (10.4.4) using the
finder (GUI), it doesn't work.

Mounting through my ISP works/doesn't work.. Verizon Avenue problems... :-(
Hi,
I HAD Verizon ONLINE. I was ABLE to mount samba served machines from the internet... eg \\strange.dreamhost.com\ from my XP box.
I switched to Verizon AVENUE. Now I can't. (When I go through a VPN, though, I am able to mount the directory going around Verizon
Avenue's network)
I'm thinking this is a port restriction that Verizon Avenue has going on.
I'm trying to

File cloning
Hello,
I''ve recently joined this list, primarily because of a thread I found from late April ("Is file cloning anywhere on ZFS roadmap") asking about file-level cloning in ZFS. Based on that thread I understand that it''s not currently possible to ''clone'' files instead of ''copying'' them, but the thread didn''t answer the
