ASUS WL-100W PCMCIA Wireless NIC
Hi everyone, Any chance I can get the card[1] in $subj to work under CentOS 5.1 ? The only thing I get in dmesg when inserting/removing the card, are messages from pccard: --- dmesg --- pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0 pccard: card ejected from slot 0 --- end --- When inserting, no new network interface becomes available, so I assume it doesn't recognize it. Any way I can get it to

Orinoco 802.11b PC Card doesn't work on STABLE
Hi, I have Orinoco 802.11b PC Card from Proxim. I plugged it to pcmcia slot, but It doesn't work - no blinking LEDs, no wi0 in ifconfig. I have 7.1-PRERELEASE, laptop Prestigio Nobile 157. On NetBSD seems working, but NetBSD is not friendly with me. if_wi driver included in kernel. ----- dmesg Copyright (c) 1992-2008 The FreeBSD Project. Multiple kld loads?
With FreeBSD 4.8-20030731-STABLE #0, dmesg messages indicate: module_register: module miibus/ukphy already exists! linker_file_sysinit "miibus.ko" failed to register! 17 module_register: module pccard/ed already exists! linker_file_sysinit "if_ed.ko" failed to register! 17 This doesn't look dangerous but the rl0 ethernet card just stopped recieving packets suddenly and

Catching error messages (from nls(), e.g.)
I try to fit subsequentially different nonlinear models to data. Up to now I tried a first model and if I could not fit this one proceeded to another one. Now I would like to handle this automatically. But much to my chagrin I did not find a way for dealing with the error messages from nls(), e.g. getting them as "control information" or at least just returning from nls() without a

WLAN support
Hi folks! First post here, so please don't bother if it's not the right place to post those kind of questions. I'm currently running a 4.7-release (upgrade to 4.8 planned but not yet started) on my production box. As I would like to setup a small WLAN (major use for my notebook, other clients are possible) I need to know which cards are really supported. The handbook is IMHO not

Detecting typo in function argument
With some chagrin after spending a couple of hours trying to debug a script, I realized I had typed in something like ans<-optimx(start, myfn, mygr, lower<-lo, upper=up) that is, the "<-" rather than "=". The outcome on my machine was a non-obvious error several layers deep in the call stack. For info, optim() seems to stop much more quickly. The error is

Skype vs. an Xlite registered to Asterisk
I have a bunch of road warriors who I've set up with Xlite clients. Unfortunately the sound quality has been intermittent at best. Sometimes it's great other times completely unusable. When it's bad one usually hears harsh static when the other party speaks or their voice gets "clipped" to static if they speak too loudly. Many of these users have migrated to Skype ? much

Freebsd 7.0-RELEASE-p3 panics
Hello, I've been having spurrious crash troubles with this box a while now and I haven't been able to figure out why. I've ran a couple memtest passes on it and it didn't pick up anything. Here's a backtrace I've been able to obtain. The kernel config is at the end. It's the generic kernel with ULE. I'm following chapter 11 of the developers' handbook, so if

wpi driver freeze on boot
I've got a HP dv8000 laptop. Setting up the wpi driver for wireless freezes the system on boot with the following error: wpi0 requested unsupported memory range wpi0: could not allocate memory resource It lists a pcbi device (pcbi4 i think) and an actual memory range, but since I have to reboot using kernel.old the /var/run/dmesg.boot is wiped with the info. Is there anyway to grab the

ALTQ and cpufreq(4)
Hello, I've met some quite strange reboots recently on my home gateway. I'm trying to reduce its power consumption, so I've loaded the cpufreq(4) driver, and enabled powerd. After this the box started to reboot randomly all over the place. I started to think what can cause the trouble, removing the cpufreq(4) support would be too trivial, so I've removed the ALTQ references from

A Pleasant Surprise
Since RC2 was released, I've started re-building the music library I left behind at my previous job (all my stuff from CDs, ripped into MP3s). Recently I started an aggressive campaign of converting my CDs to vorbis files... I'm doing about 6 or 7 CDs a day at work =) Yesterday I was listening to my Talk Talk album, and noticed that on this one live track, the stereo seemed to have

RFC: Changing variable override
It seems like a very common expectation that the following code would work: class boo { $me = "/something" file { $me: ensure => present } } class yay inherits boo { $me = "/something/else" } Yet, as many have found to their chagrin, it does not work. Should it? I believe I know how I could make this work: Create a single variable namespace for class

[Repost, with Formatting] Trying to understand unicode character entry, goes into postgres DB backing rails, saved to yaml as \xc4\x81
Apologies on unformatted send previously, i hit Enter and the web UI posted, to my chagrin. 1. Examine the Unicode standard''s code page collection for "Latin small letter a with macron". 2. Nets U0100.pdf 3. "Latin small letter a with macron" appears on chart as 0101. This is a hexidemial number which points to U+0101 as its code point. Converting 0101 to decimal

preexec and msdfs proxy
ok ok ... Names have been changed to protect the inoccent. This installation is being used to mitigate a server migration by providing read-only access to the new shares under the old server name. We have duplicated all the current shares on the new server (NETAPP) as {share name}_ro and created equivalent shares on the SAMBA installation as DFS proxies that point the client to that read-only
