Sudden and unexplained reboots
Hello,
I'm having a problem in one of the FreeBSD boxes that I manage. All of a
sudden, and for no particular reason, the machine just reboots abruptly.
When it loads up again, I cannot see an indication that there's anything
wrong in the configuration.
By the way, the machine is running like this for few months, and no
changes were made lately. Machine has 2GB RAM, RAID-5 disk array and

Additions: Boot problem on a P4P800-based computer
Hi again,
Anyone has an idea how to debug this problem?
I tried nearly everything possible, including disabling devices in the
BIOS and in CLI mode. I even replaced the CD-ROM drive with another one,
just in case it is faulty. The problem persists...
The thing that is hanging the probing session comes after PLIP. That's
where the boot process always stops...
Next thing is to remove the hard

Strange and sudden deletion of mails messages
Hello everyone,
I'm having a bizarre problem (bug?) concerning deletion of messages from one of the mailboxes.
The platform is set up as follows:
FreeBSD 7-STABLE
Postfix 2.6-20080411
Dovecot 1.0.13
Webmail using RoundCube 0.1-STABLE
The trace (in Postfox logs) revealed that the message has been actually received, and saved to maildir, and then viewed once in Webmail. Hitting Reply in

Exec file incompatible with hardware
Sorry if this is going to be one of those 'idiot' questions, but I don't
use Samba. It has always been on our server, chugging along beautifully
so no on ever had to touch it... Well, we consolidated servers and moved
everything to another server with HP-UX 10.20 (the previous server had
the same HPUX version so I thought I was in the clear), the samba
version is samba-1.9.18p2. I

Contradiction in samba documentation
Hi,
I have found some contradictions in the samba
documentation. i am writing them down here so if you
can please verify them.
in heading 4.3.3 of the documentation it says
" When samba is operating in security = domain mode
, the samba server has a domain security trust account
( a machine account) and causes all authentication
requests to be passed through to the domain

Seems like nodes are matching the default node before they are
matching the more specific nodes. My site.pp has:

In the nodes directory are two files, default.pp and nagios_server.pp.
default.pp:

codepages and cross-compiling
I'm working on a packaging of samba for OpenZaurus
(http://openzaurus.sf.net).
We build on an x86 system cross-compiling for the Zaurus systems (an
ARM platform).
The part that is giving me trouble is the code pages.
Can I safely compile them with the make_smbcodepage and
make_unicodemap on the x86 and then use them on the ARM? Or are the
platform dependent?
Is there anyway I can shrink

Idmap + LDAP + winbind: our first BDC - doubts about idmap ranges and winbbindd + Idmap dn
Hi,
My doubt is about Idmap + LDAP + winbind, related do BDC + PDC. We
are using Samba 3.0.33 (Slackware 12.0.0).
Our layout is almost like this one
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/images/chap6-net.png,
but we have more BLDGn than this example.
Actually, we are taking ideas from
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html
and from
