Processing "BIND8-like" statistics
I wonder how to process the statistics logged by nsd. We compile with --enable-bind8-stats and I thought we would be able to reuse the Perl script that translated our BIND8 statistics to MRTG. But the script has problems, probably because nsd has several daemons, not just one, and each one is logging statistics. Aug 4 10:34:01 ns2 nsd[24573]: NSTATS 1059986041 1059979224 A=292259 NS=4886

[Bug 146] OpenSSH 3.1p1 will not build on BSD/OS 4.2/4.1/4.01
http://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146 ------- Additional Comments From mouring at eviladmin.org 2002-03-08 07:38 ------- I just went through someone with this problem. And HAVE_BOGUS_SYS_QUEUE_H worked for them. However you must have BOTH HAVE_SYS_QUEUE_H and HAVE_BOGUS_SYS_QUEUE_H set. As for INADDR_LOOPBACK. I'd like to know where on BSD/OS that is defined so we can

Building rpms
I have been asked to update OpenLDAP to the latest stable version. I am using CentOS 4.2 and have OpenLDAP 2.2.13 installed. I can install from source if I have to, but I would rather stay with rpm packages if possible. I found an rpm from Fedora Core Development on RPMFIND. Will this one work with Centos, or should I grab the source rpm and rebuild it? Bowie

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: RIPEMD160 For all those currently using BIND 8, please be aware of the notice below from ISC. Given that we have moved to BIND 9 for all of our releases from 5.x on (and BIND 9.4.x in 7-soon-to-be-release), and given that FreeBSD 4 was the last branch to have BIND 8, and itself is now EOL, the time has come to say good-bye to BIND 8. Named update for RH 4.2 exploitable?
Someone I was speaking with this evening claimed they have installed the latest named rpms yet they are still getting exploited daily and being hacked. Do the latest rpm''s for the named 4.9.x stuff fix all the root exploits or is this person just an idiot who probably has holes elsewhere in the system?

Another way to transfer zones
Hi, I've been working on a replacement for nsd-xfer/bind-xfer for the use with NSD for some evenings now, and since I believe that at least some of you do have the same problem I experienced during my transition to NSD (that is, bind-xfer is only available in BIND8, which is sometimes a little bit peeky in being compiled, plus the many invokations of that program during the regular

Forward lookup DNS Issues samba 4.1.12-9 el6
Hi guys, I know this sounds vague and I'll try to explain in more depth now, but firstly, does Samba4 internal DNS, cache any records that were looked up from a forwarder, and then secondly what is the default timeout for waiting for a DNS lookup off of a DNS forwarder? I've installed two new Samba4 PDC's(using the built in DNS server and not named) for two separate sites, and both

Error returning browse list: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Andrew, Jerry and the rest of the team: Hello again! It has been quite some time since I was here and waded the waters to set up bind8 and samba 2.07 on my trust mdk 7.2 box. (by the way, it is still working like a champ) over 400 days uptime before the last extended power outage. Well, obviously a lot has changed since the 2.07 days and I am now working on a SuSE 8.2 box with samba 2.2.7a
