Additions: Boot problem on a P4P800-based computer
Hi again, Anyone has an idea how to debug this problem? I tried nearly everything possible, including disabling devices in the BIOS and in CLI mode. I even replaced the CD-ROM drive with another one, just in case it is faulty. The problem persists... The thing that is hanging the probing session comes after PLIP. That's where the boot process always stops... Next thing is to remove the hard

Strange and sudden deletion of mails messages
Hello everyone, I'm having a bizarre problem (bug?) concerning deletion of messages from one of the mailboxes. The platform is set up as follows: FreeBSD 7-STABLE Postfix 2.6-20080411 Dovecot 1.0.13 Webmail using RoundCube 0.1-STABLE The trace (in Postfox logs) revealed that the message has been actually received, and saved to maildir, and then viewed once in Webmail. Samba on STABLE
Hi, I installed Samba 3.0 from ports (latest 4.8-STABLE) but I couldn't find few files after installation, like make_smbcodepage (http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/make_smbcodepage.1.html) and others, like the code page example files. Where are the files? A side note: how can I change installation directory when making 'make' in ports? Noor

Contradiction in samba documentation
Hi, I have found some contradictions in the samba documentation. i am writing them down here so if you can please verify them. in heading 4.3.3 of the documentation it says " When samba is operating in security = domain mode , the samba server has a domain security trust account ( a machine account) and causes all authentication requests to be passed through to the domain

validates_uniqueness_of and create atomicity
Hi folks, I have a question regarding validates_uniqueness_of, and similar before-filter-like events attempting to guarantee some DB state prior to modification. >From my reading of ActiveRecord, validate_uniqueness_of appears to cause a SELECT on the underlying table attempting to ensure that a record with ID(s) specified in the validates_uniqueness_of statement is not already present, prior

Sudden unexplained slowness on share (caused by duplicate UID?)
Hi, We have 5 Samba domain controllers, and 4 file servers. All are 4.2.10-Debian. Our file servers have been working fine until recently (on the 26th), when suddenly access to the \\users.store.example.com\user share (hostname p-cats) became extremely slow. Access to other shares on other machines is fine, and users is 128G total (smaller than other shares). The machine isn't under

Mbuf Clusters on 4.8
Ive been googling quite a bit now for problems with running out of mbuf clusters. Im basically sending a 30k datachunk down 1000-4000 connections, but 1000 is more than enough to quickly fill upp 8192 mbuf clusters. I also tried setting maximum amount of mbuf clusters to 65536, but that only made the box hard-wire 86MB of 96MB RAM, making it just as unsuable as a dead machine. Of course, when the

kernel: locore.s doesn't assemble (fillkpt, $PAGE_SHIFT, $PTESHIFT)
since august 8th, 2003 the kernel on my i386 pentiumIII won't compile. the problem arises in locore.s with the definition of the constants $PAGE_SHIFT and $PTESHIFT used in `shr' and `shl' instructions within the macros `fillkpt' and `fillkptphys'. i've tried to cvsup(1) RELENG_4 and RELENG_4_8 every day for over a week now, but kernel builds (as part of a buildworld)

Unexplained reboots in DRBD82 + OCFS2 setup
We're trying to setup a dual-primary DRBD environment, with a shared disk with either OCFS2 or GFS. The environment is a Centos 5.3 with DRBD82 (but also tried with DRBD83 from testing) . Setting up a single primary disk and running bonnie++ on it works. Setting up a dual-primary disk, only mounting it on one node (ext3) and running bonnie++ works When setting up ocfs2 on the /dev/drbd0
